Description
The Career Center Business Consultant works with the business community within Monroe County to provide business-training services. They promote and develop training and financial business incentives (i.e. Employed Worker Training, On the Job Training, etc.). The Business Consultant also develops partnerships for interaction/collaboration with local economic development agencies, chambers of commerce, industry focus groups, major job fairs, promotes Customized Training Programs including Employed Worker Training Program (EWTP) and On the Job Training (OJT), and implements the Economic Development and Industry Sector Committee’s agenda. Related clerical and office duties are also performed. This position works under the general supervision of the Director, Career Center.
Examples of Duties
1. Develop, coordinate, and promote business-training services for Monroe County.
2. Act as intermediary between Monroe County area businesses and The College of the Florida Keys to establish and maintain cooperative and mutually beneficial relationships.
3. Develop and maintain a well-defined marketing plan of action to market the services of the SFWIB effectively and to assess the needs of the business to assist in its growth.
4. Attend, exhibit, and present at conferences, trade associations, and events.
5. Coordinate special recruitments for area businesses.
6. Coordinate opportunities for program customers through establishing, growing, and maintaining professional relationships with businesses in Monroe County.
7. Communicates regularly with the Director, Career Center on upcoming events to ensure proper representation.
8. Promote initiatives enacted by the SFWIB Economic Development and Industry Sector Committee.
9. Provide follow-up services to businesses to assess satisfaction with services received. Make recommendations to the Director, Career Center for any areas of concern.
10. Promote high-skill, high-wage employment opportunities which meet the self-sufficiency standard for the region.
11. Assist in College recruitment and retention efforts, as appropriate.
12. Required to attend Graduation/Commencement ceremonies.
13. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public relations, marketing, economics, or related field.
- Two years of experience in business i.e. marketing, public relations, or economic development.
- Multilingual (Spanish and/or Creole) preferred.

Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
- Required to be Tier I certified within 2 months of employment.

MEDICAL – The College offers full-time employees a choice of Medical Insurance plans and pays the full cost of employee premiums. Dependent coverage is available at a group rate through payroll deduction. Available plans include a traditional PPO and a High-Deductible PPO attached to a Health Savings Account.
DENTAL AND VISION – Voluntary dental and vision insurance is offered through payroll deduction.
LIFE INSURANCE – The College provides each employee with term life insurance payable to a beneficiary at the rate of one times (1x) the employee’s annual salary rounded up to the next thousand up to a maximum of $50,000. Accidental Death and Dismemberment is provided at one times (1x) the employee’s annual salary rounded up to the next thousand up to a maximum of $50,000.

FLORIDA RETIREMENT SYSTEM – Full-time and regular part-time employees participate in the Florida Retirement System (FRS). The College contributes the current retirement percentage of the individual’s salary, and the employee would contribute the current retirement percentage based on their salary. Employees may choose the Pension Plan or the Investment Plan.
PAID TUITION – Tuition fees for credit courses taken at the College are waived for employees and their eligible dependents, including domestic partners. Tuition and student fees are waived for non-credit physical education courses. Contingent upon approval, $1,000 reimbursement is available each fiscal year through Staff & Program Development (S&PD), for completion of course work toward a degree which results in demonstrated benefit to the College.
