Business Content Journalist, Seller External Relations

The Selling Partner Empowerment, Communities, & Trust (SPECT) organization builds lasting connections with, and helps drive the success of our Selling Partners. The Seller External Relations team within SPECT is responsible for ensuring that external perception mirrors the reality that Amazon’s stores are a great place for independent sellers to build and maintain thriving businesses. The Editorial team is looking for a seasoned journalist with a keen eye for storytelling and the ability to handle multiple, high impact assignments across various formats on deadline. You will be responsible for delivering relevant, accurate and engaging content to our audience, often with a data driven viewpoint. As a Business Content Journalist, you will play a pivotal role in driving our messaging strategy across a range of content formats. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Creative, Product, Legal, Public Relations, Public Policy and consumer business teams to create impactful and persuasive copy that captures the attention of our audience and resonates with them. Your creativity, attention to detail, and ability to work autonomously on editorial deadlines allow you to deliver results while also thinking ahead and pitching the next big story idea.

Key job responsibilities

Research and investigate news stories to gather relevant information from reliable

sources.

Conduct interviews with key individuals to gather first-hand information.

Write well-crafted, concise, and compelling articles, features, and reports.

Stay up to date with current Amazon events, news trends, and emerging topics to pitch and develop story ideas.

Verify facts, cross-check information, and ensure accuracy in reporting.

Adhere to journalistic principles, ethics, and editorial guidelines in all aspects of news

reporting.

About the team

The Seller External Relations (SER) team ensures that Amazon is viewed globally by external audiences as a valuable, accessible, partner who respects and celebrates the success of its sellers. We create content and tools that demonstrate and celebrate the positive experiences of sellers on Amazon to other sellers, the general public, and influentials (e.g., media and policymakers)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English or a related field.

8+ years of experience as a journalist and a proven track record of reporting across different beats/topics.

News judgment and the ability to identify a compelling story.

Proficiency in adhering to journalistic ethics and AP guidelines.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Attention to detail and accuracy in reporting.

Demonstrated portfolio of writing compelling and impactful articles across various channels and formats.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Familiarity with digital platforms, social media and multimedia journalism.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and interviewing skills.

Knowledge of SEO best practices.

Exceptional research, writing and storytelling skill with a high level of confidence

handling business, finance and data driven narratives.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $90,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $178,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
