Business/Finance Operations Analyst (NASA Balloon Program)

We are looking for an energetic, motivated professional to fill an Administrator position supporting a NASA contract at the Columbia Scientific Balloon Facility in Palestine, TX. The qualified candidate will be a self-starter, who wants to learn and grow in the role and potentially qualify for greater responsibility.

Primary responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, purchasing, and operational support for NASA Balloon Operations Contract program, including but not limited to:

  • Manage invoices by verifying correctness, ensuring entry into corporate accounts payable system, follow-up with vendor and Corporate AP, and resolving invoicing issues (such as lost/missing invoices, late payments, incorrect charge numbers). Verify sufficient funds are available for invoice payment and notify appropriate parties when additional funds are required. Acts as single-point-of-contact for vendors with invoicing questions/issues.
  • Entering purchase requests into the corporate purchasing request tool: Ensure correct data is entered (project charge code, purchase type, commodity codes, amounts, vendor information).
  • Tracking Open Commits, identifying and verifying residuals/obsolete/unneeded lines, processing PO line closures as appropriate.
  • Gathers, collects, records, tracks, and verifies data and information from multiple sources – analyzes data for insights and trends and takes action accordingly
  • Knowledgeable on what and what not to share with vendors and customers
  • Provides data and information to others inside and outside of the immediate organization.
  • Other miscellaneous ad hoc tasks and actions as needed to support the program and the Business Operations group.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree and 2 to 4 years of experience or High School and 8 to 10 years of year’s experience in a similar capacity
  • Understanding of common finance and accounting terms and processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Desired Qualifications:

  • Desired experience with Costpoint, Cognos, and/or equivalent systems
  • Above average proficiency with Excel
  • Experience working on a federal government contract
  • Experience supporting a US-based international operation
  • Detail orientation
  • Flexible, highly organized; Excellent people interaction skills with both co-workers and vendors/customers.

Target Salary Range

$51,000 – $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
