Daniels Executive Education provides continual professional growth opportunities through our intensive and ‘quick-hit’ programs and courses centered around leadership development and business acumen. As the Business Officer, you will be responsible for core financial and business operations and processes. This includes accounting, billing, reconciliation, and internal reporting. In addition, you’ll play a critical role in the client registration process-highlighting the important intersection of billing and customer service. Reporting to the Director of Program Success, you’ll gain additional exposure (and experience) in contracting, budget development, P&L analysis, pricing models, and revenue management. Essential Functions
Overall Job Responsibilities:
- Accounting: responsible for accounts payable, general ledger entries, invoicing, payments processing, and reconciliation
- Financial Administration: oversee and process financial, human resources, and general business transactions
- Business Operations: assist Director with contracting, budget development, and ROI analysis
- Program Support: manage all aspects of client registration process to ensure a seamless customer experience
- Project Management: lend skills to additional auxiliary Executive Education projects
- Collaborative Team Member: be a key team member by contributing ideas, encouraging others, and supporting the team
Accounting and Financial Administration
- Reconcile key financial accounts weekly and monthly to ensure systems accuracy and control
- Reconcile Banner (the University’s financial record system) to Salesforce (Executive Education’s CRM) monthly
- Perform journal entries, invoices, and purchase orders
- Prepare and process billings to ensure invoices are accurate, consistent with contractual requirements, and issued on a timely basis
- Process all payments/deposits and track outstanding accounts receivable
Business Operations and Budget Administration
- Create class budgets and forecasts for all Custom and Open enrollment programs
- Assist Director of Program Success in current year forecasting and future year budget development
- Assist Director of Program Success in the implementation of effective contract management practices, due diligence, and risk management
- Assist in procurement process including RFP initiation
- Submit contracts to workflow and track PO progress
- Monitor all current-year activity including keeping detailed records of financial commitments
- Provide monthly financial reporting and updates to team
- Collaborate with central financial team and assist in fiscal year end process
- Recommend and produce process improvements to enhance system control and accuracy
- Prepare financial data analysis on an ad hoc basis
Program Support and Client Registration
- Manage the client registration process by adding new classes and updating external-facing content
- Coordinate registration and billing efforts and ensure clients are charged, billed, and reconciled between internal systems
- Track for-credit students and coordinate with the Registrar to ensure proper University registration
- Track DU staff using tuition waiver
- Collaborate with Program Managers to confirm accuracy of all program expenses to ensure proper invoicing and billing
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
- Flexibility to occasionally support program execution as needed
HR Administration and Payroll
- Initiate background checks for non-benefited staff and faculty
- Manage payroll process for in house and outsourced payrolls
- Assist with purchasing card set up and reports
- Support any needed aspects of payroll functions and hiring processes
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Superb organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to details-you naturally check twice for accuracy and enjoy following up with people
- Demonstrated accounting skills and an ability to oversee, compile, and interpret financial data
- Customer service mindset-understanding that billing and financial transactions are an important aspect of maintaining strong client and vendor relationships
- Ability to follow established policies and procedures related to business practices and financial administration, but also energized by identifying opportunities to drive efficiency and optimize processes
- Self-motivated with proven ability to manage and complete projects with minimal direction
- Natural collaborator with strong, positive interpersonal skills
- A desire to work in a small entrepreneurial team environment
- Professional ambitions to grow experience in all financial aspects of a small business

Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar
- Solid accounting experience including at least 1 year of reconciliation
- Experience and proficiency Microsoft Office suite
- Robust excel experience with exposure to advanced formulas and functions
- Project management experience-Wrike is a plus
- Proven track record of driving initiatives that improve efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience working in financial, educational, or human resources environment
- Experience with Salesforce
- Experience with a variety of accounting systems-university accounting system such as Banner is a plus
- Experience working in Higher Education or other complex organization

Working Environment

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $55,000-$65,000
