What you’ll do at

Position Summary…

What you’ll do…
At Walmart, we enable the connection between supplier brands and retail shoppers at unprecedented scale. As primary stewards of our brand promise, “Save Money. Live Better,” we work alongside some of the most talented people in the world to engage with the more than 150M households who shop with us. This is a unique opportunity to join a small, high-visibility team within the largest company in the world. We believe all digital advertising can be targeted and accountable – and we have Walmart’s sales data to prove it. Walmart Connect wins when suppliers invest in digital media to drive growth; Walmart and our supplier partners win when your digital expertise helps sell more goods online and offline. Growth in our digital advertising business is key to Walmart’s overall growth strategy.

Walmart Connect (advertising arm of Walmart) is dedicated to driving measurable outcomes for our suppliers, sellers, merchants, stores, GMs, brand advertisers, and agencies. Our full funnel ad solutions leverage Walmart’s in-store and online data, extensive reach, and to provide measurable results for our clientele. With a range of flexible pricing and buying models, including self-service; these solutions help businesses build brand awareness, engage with Walmart consumers, and convert Walmart consumers to shoppers.

This is a visionary and collaborative role where you will define, scope, & drive important growth initiatives that shape the overall future of the company. The Manager, Business Strategy & Special Projects will:

  • Put stakes in the ground as to what the challenges and opportunities facing our business are, where it should be in 6 months, 1 year, and 3 years, and how at a high level we can get there: This is a role where you will be asked to synthesize information to clarify the noise, provide and validate hypotheses, build compelling narratives, and convince others of your perspective.
  • Define and drive Walmart Connect’s most important strategic projects: Not only will you put stakes in the ground and provide your perspective on what the business should do to resolve a challenge, but you will also serve as the general manager who transform initiatives into reality, in collaboration with stakeholders across the enterprise.
  • We are looking for someone who is game to learn, grow, and over time take on exciting new things that come up as part of a fast-growing digital advertising business. We would love for someone who builds productive and positive relationships across the organization at all levels.

Qualifications

  • Ideally ~3 years of experience (2 years also okay) in strategy consulting, internal corporate strategy, or similar roles (e.g., Corporate Management Rotational Programs). Helpful to have experience in defining and communicating high-level, future-focused, business narratives, and managing ambiguous situations
  • Flexible on sector experience: Familiarity with advertising, technology, consumer goods, retail, or media is a plus; however, it is not necessary to have previously worked in any of these areas. You would work alongside a team that will help you learn and grow in the exciting digital / retail advertising space

Skills we are looking for in this role:

  • Critical thinker: Comfortable putting “stake in the ground” hypotheses where others are not willing to and be able to challenge assumptions with relatively “little” subject matter expertise
  • Strong ability to interpret complex information and clearly communicate simple messages to others: Visualize and communicate broader narratives around complex information-not only the “what”, but also the “so what”, “what do we do from here”, “what else should we do”-in a clear, organized, and end-to-end manner
  • Brings structure to disorder: Ability to introduce a sense of order to amorphous situations
  • Team player and cross-functional collaborator: Open to interacting with many people on a regular basis, both on the same team and on different teams
  • Strong PowerPoint and verbal skills: And flexible on different levels of Excel experience (mentoring available in this area)
