Department Overview
The mission of the Operations Systems Group within the Electric Grid Operations Department is to provide comprehensive engineering solutions to improve transmission system reliability and enable future growth of the Electric Transmission Grid. In addition, the Group provides outstanding engineering support to Operations by resolving complex issues via implementation of state-of-the-art technology. EMS Operations provides operational, engineering, and project management support for the EMS platform as well as support for the technologies used by the Grid Control Center.
Summary: Business Performance Analyst, Expert will report to Sr. Manager and will manage complex EMS projects and budget. Work with program managers and partner with other departments (i.e. IT, System Automation) for their support in completing critical work, managing project performance and controlling costs. This position is HQ’d in our Rocklin office, and the selected candidate will be working out of this office on a daily basis.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
- Minimum Base Salary (California) $112,000.00
- Mid Base Salary (California) $145,000.00
- Maximum Base Salary (California) $179,000.00
Responsibilities:
- Work on complex problems and projects that require in depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions.
- Coordinate the activities and projects within PG&E, EMS group and outside organizations. May coach and develop less experienced employees.
- Partners with Manager on performance analytics, assisting with scorecard development, data mining, research, forecasting, reporting/compiling findings and making recommendations.
- Working knowledge of Energy Management system applications, problems, and issues that impact Grid Operations.
- Conducts studies and develop end user metrics related to business strategy and operations.
- Manage project development, metrics identification, tickets and maintains project database and reporting systems. Ensures tracking and measurement of all projects, incident tickets and work orders are complete.
- Evaluates and recommends operational standards to the organization. Helps prioritize, select and charter high-impact projects.
- Develops, maintains and revises presentations and trainings for process change implementation.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with ability to influence and negotiate with others to meet desired work objectives.
- Lead and create documentation that includes standards, technical specifications, templates, manuals, process and procedures, process flow diagrams, and job aids.
- Recognize gaps and needs in current policies and procedures, identify appropriate corrective action, and work with management across the organization to implement changes if appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- 7 years in business, operational, financial, or process improvement experience
- BA/BS degree in Business, Economics, Finance or relevant degree or equivalent experience
Desired:
- Excellent Technical writing and documentation skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills required and ability to work productively in fast-paced, real-time environment, and successfully navigate complex technical projects.
- Proficiency with troubleshooting and creating new and complex scripts.
- Proven experience participating in projects of high complexity required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
- Experience with Electric Transmission System Operations
- Experience in a real-time EMS environment including RTU communications, modeling, displays and real time data transfer.
