VENUE
Positioned at the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, on levels 100, 101, and 102 – One World Observatory provides guests with unique, panoramic views of New York City, its most iconic sites, and surrounding waters from 1,250 feet. THE ROLE
The Barista/Café Associate is responsible for providing quick and efficient service to customers in a variety of duties relating to a fast casual food service experience including recording transactions and collecting payment with a point-of-sale system, stocking counters and maintaining sanitation standards. The role reports to the Food & Beverage Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Café Associate is responsible for providing quick and efficient service to customers in a variety of duties relating to a fast casual food service experience including recording transactions and collecting payment with a point-of-sale system, stocking counters and maintaining sanitation standards.
- Properly records all transactions via the point-of-sale system and informs guests of amount owed
- Collect the proper money for food and beverage items; process credit card or collect cash and determine correct change for guests
- Account for all transactions; maintain accurate cash count and balance banks at end of shift
- Provide customer service to guests by being knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the café’s menu of products
- Suggest additional items to customers, as appropriate
- Ensure that all food and beverage cabinets are stocked and tidy to deliver a full service
- Maintain soda fountain system: add ice, monitor and change BIBs as needed and clean nozzles daily
- Ensure the food is served to the correct temperature & portion size
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and product as needed
- Ensure that the correct close down procedure is followed: all areas of the café left clean, tidy and secure, ready for the next day’s service
- Assist with daily, weekly and month inventory as needed
- Provide guidance to guests at the venue inclusive of dining options and general attraction information
- Perform basic math skills: ability to accurately count change and balance bank
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality, with/without reasonable accommodation
- Assist with other duties as necessary or required by management
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 2-4 years of operations or related experience (preferably in an attraction, entertainment or hospitality environment) preferred
- Multi-lingual (incl. sign language) is preferred
- Excellent guest service skills
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment
- Basic knowledge of food preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
- Willingness to exceed the guest expectations
- Willingness to engage with guests – every time
- Ability to work and be on-feet extended hours and flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
- Ability to transport up to 50 lbs. (at times, on a continuous basis)
- Ability to work independently or in a team setting during set up and execution of service
- Ability to effectively listen and take direction from supervisor
- Ability to bend, squat, reach
- Ability to read, speak and write English Language in order to communicate with management and guests.
- Ability to maintain personal hygiene and a well-groomed appearance standard in compliance with company dress-code
- Ability to maintain a high level of motivation and enthusiasm
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a high guest volume, interactive environment
- Ability to perform and present information in a concise, legible/audible manner to our guests (speak loudly and clearly and having a commanding presence)
- Ability to memorize historical and technical information

COMPENSATION
$20. /hour + generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401(k) plan
