Salary Range: $80,169 to $114,545

YOUR ROLE

Run a start-up operation of a new cross dock transload facility in Vancouver Canada. To maintain efficient logistics operations and to build strong partnerships with customers and to guide and lead new business implementation including overseeing and supervising, transload operations, value added services, solutions design & consolidation operations. This position is responsible for the overall management and performance of the facility including warehouse operations, customer relations, quality, and security. In addition, the station manager is accountable for achieving company financial objectives, productivity standards and personnel development.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Operations: Develop and direct team members to ensure the compliant, efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility. Oversee all distribution services including transload, receiving, storing, shipping, special projects, maintenance and administrative activities to ensure customer requirements are met. Other responsibilities include the oversight and execution of the following:

  • Oversee job assignments and labor schedules. Plan long-range labor needs based on sales forecasts and input from management. Focus on continuous improvement and make recommendations to senior management on programs to improve operations.
  • Coordination of all aspects of the delivery (including, but not limited to, billing, rate quotation, approval of vendor invoices, etc.).
  • Scheduling of pick-ups daily.
  • Adhere to all shipping, import and export regulations.
  • Escalate any unresolved issues or risks before they materially impact the Company or client.
  • Work closely with other departments to deliver high level of service to customers.
  • Monitor KPI’s

Labor Management: Direct the operations to achieve prescribed objectives. Develop and maintain a productive work team by creating programs for hiring, training and professional development. Match the skill and background of personnel to the work required. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel and discipline associates. Implement an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and terminations.

    • Oversee daily order priorities; ensure they process correctly and on time
    • Manage staff schedules and contract labor requirements
    • Generate and communicate Metrics Reporting
    • Operational Execution

Equipment / Safety: Ensure that procedures are in place of the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment. Direct programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment and property. Provide safety instruction to personnel as needed. Report all work-related injuries immediately. Provide immediate medical attention to injured employees as necessary. Ensure compliance with appropriate government regulations.

Relationship Management: Continually maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers, vendors and support personnel. Audit operations to ensure service standards and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are being met. Establish clear objectives and goals for vendors and support personnel. Meet with customers to discuss performance against KPI’s and improvement opportunities.

Inventory Management: Ensure current and accurate inventory control for all products. Develop a space utilization plan to meet prescribed cost and service standards. Monitor the space layout plan to ensure it continues to meet company standards. Develop and implement an effective product locator system and update as necessary.

Information Technology: Ensure the creation of the necessary warehouse information systems to meet company objectives and facilitate the efficient operations of the warehouse. Ensure that necessary changes in hardware and software are provided. Remain knowledgeable regarding changes in hardware and software technology.

Security and Compliance: Ensure the security of the facility, its environs, employees and contents. Conduct regular instruction in good security practices. Facility must remain compliant with all TSA regulations.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree OR at least 5 years’ experience in container freight station, distribution or warehouse environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Distribution manager in a 3PL environment.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel
  • Experience in computer-based WMS technology
  • Bi-lingual Spanish and English is a plus
