Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Campus Director of HS operations will be based at a High School Campus, and will be responsible for supporting the campus across a range of business operations. The Campus Director of HS Operations is responsible for directly managing up to five support staff on campus; a Manager of Safety and Security, Campus Support Associate, Campus Support Manager, Office Manager and Lunch Administrator. The Campus Director of HS Operations is responsible for implementing financial and business functions that streamline performance between the school site and headquarters, while at the same time helping create and sustain policies and systems that support the schools’ mission and culture of achievement. The Campus Director of HS Operations is an exempt role. The Campus Director of HS Operations will report to the Senior Director of Operations and will be accountable to the principal at the school site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Finance – 40%
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and all other financial operations, including credit cards, petty cash, and reimbursements. Support Headquarters- and school-based compliance requirements by providing the financial component of all compliance reporting. Develop and manage process improvements to ensure quality of business operations functions within the school and between the school and Headquarters. Assist with monitoring fiscal performance and work with the principal, the Director of Finance, and the AD of Operations to find the most efficient and effective uses of funds to support the school’s mission.
- Facilities – 10%
- Serve as the main point of contact on site at the school campus for all facilities-related issues, including coordinating efforts among all facilities personnel, security personnel, janitorial personnel and external vendors.
- Procurement and Inventory – 5%
- Manage procurement and purchasing at the school site, including supplies and furniture and equipment.
- Maintain inventory and manage fixed assets tracking. Work with teachers and administrative staff to implement procurement processes that synchronize with Headquarters financial systems.
- National School Lunch Program- 10%
- Support Headquarters- and school-based compliance requirements by maintaining accurate lunch forms for each family, auditing and compiling accurate monthly lunch counts, and working directly with our food service provider on execution of the program.
- Athletics – 5%
- Manage Athletic budget and logistics. Collaborate with the Athletic Director and Manager of Safety and Security regarding scheduling, compliance and event logistics. In addition
- Coordinating with HDQ Engagement team on enrichment activities on campus – 5%
- Arrival and Dismissal Oversight – 5%
- Manage all logistics of security coordination and student transportation regarding safe passage. Engage MPD, WMATA, Transit Police, and community partners as necessary
- Community Engagement – 5%
- Manage collaboration efforts with the Metropolitan Police Department and other agencies as needed (including but not limited to attending Advisory Neighborhood Commission meetings) to represent and protect KIPP DC campus community.
- Front office management. – 5%
- Oversee front office operations including attendance oversight and other responsibilities, as needed
- Event management – 10%
- Manage all operational logistics for internal and external events.
- Serve as a full-time and engaged member of KIPP DC’s staff, including accompanying students on field lessons, assisting with student recruitment and enrichment activities, and working with other staff members to ensure fulfillment of KIPP DC’s mission.

Requirements
- Unquestioned commitment to KIPP DC’s mission and values
- Bachelor’s Degree required or 7 years of relevant Finance and Operations experience
- Minimum 5 years of management experience preferred; school setting preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook required
- Familiarity with finance and accounting principles
- Familiarity working in education
- Previous experience in a customer service-oriented role is preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to identify inefficiencies and generate creative solutions
- A sense of urgency and ability to proactively and effectively prioritize multiple high-impact initiatives and tasks
- Project planning experience required, with demonstrated ability to see large projects through to completion;
- Previous experience budgeting or purchasing on behalf of a non-profit organization a plus
- A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven culture
- Demonstrated ability to work with a team on collaborative projects
- Comfort with working in a fast-paced, non-profit environment

Compensation and Benefits:
KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:
- The anticipated starting salary for this position is $78,777-$93,782. At KIPP DC we strive for clarity, equity, and to be highly competitive. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector.
- KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.
- KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.
- Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays. This is subject to change and your exact schedule will be shared in your offer letter.
- As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support which requires this position to be fully on-site. This role is currently required to be on-site or in schools during regular work hours.
