Your role at Baxter:
The CAPEX Project Specialist a member of the Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Engineering Organization and is responsible for supporting the startup of new production equipment. The CAPEX Project Specialist supports activities such as equipment selection, URS developments, vendor selection, FAT, commissioning, installation, SAT, qualifications, operator onboarding and leading any troubleshooting efforts needed during these processes. The Project Technologist will collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering, Program Management, Technical Services etc. The Project Technologist will report to the CAPEX Manager.
What you’ll do:
- Actively participates in equipment selection and supports project engineer develop URS and vendor selection
- Actively participates in equipment FAT, installation, commissioning, SAT, and qualifications activities for new equipment
- Responsible for training production and maintenance during project transition
- Supports project engineer and production to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to onboard new equipment
- Develops and ensures the proper completion of handover / turnover packages, including, without limitation, required preventative maintenance procedures (PMs), and needed spare parts.
- Interacts with all functions and levels of management internally and externally ensuring effective, ongoing communications across teams and stakeholders
- Leads troubleshooting efforts alongside project engineer
- Assists project engineer to ensures identification and communication of projects risks, development of risk plan and contributes to proactively managing risk response strategies
- Anticipates potential conflict situations and leads to a successful outcome
- Assists project manager and project engineer track team deliverables for project completion
- Assists project manager to create and maintain project schedules
- Assists project manager to control project scope creep
- Assists project manager in reviewing contractor/engineering firm submittals
- Develop project URS, RFQs, CCMs, Work Orders, preventative maintenance plans, P&ID redlines, spare parts management among other activities directly related to project documentation.
- Supports project engineer in training site stakeholders as project is turned over to the site
- Collaborates and supports projects across sites (Bloomington, IN and Halle, Germany)
- Participates project technical reviews for all projects
- Participate in project lessons learned
What you’ll bring:
- High school diploma or GED required, bachelors preferred
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pharmaceutical industry closely working on production equipment
- Minimum 5 years’ prior experience working in aseptic manufacturing plant required
- Strong verbal and writing skills
- Risk Management knowledge is required
- Working knowledge of Reliability Centered Maintenance
- Extensive working knowledge of how production equipment functions (Fill machines – vial and Syringe), autoclaves, CIP systems, lyophilizers, vial washers, depyrogenation tunnels, cappers, weight controllers, visual inspection equipment, automated inspection systems, packaging lines and associated
- Knowledge of cGMPs and worldwide regulatory agency guidelines
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point, MS Projects, Excel, and Outlook and the ability to use enterprise software
Physical / Safety Requirements:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
- Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
- Must be able to travel internationally
- Must be able to gown qualify for Grade A/B areas
We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary range of $68,000 to$156,000 and also includes an annual incentive bonu. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
