Summary
The Career and College Promise Coordinator, Moore County, coordinates and manages the day-to-operations of the Career and College Promise program to include recruitment, registration, program planning and growth, and compliance with state regulations. The coordinator will be expected to build rapport with SCC instructors, high school staff, MCS administration, parents, and students and to develop an effective and beneficial partnership among all constituents. The coordinator will serve all Moore County students who attend Union Pines High School, Pinecrest High School, and North Moore High School along with private school, home school, and out of county students.
Essential Functions
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Recruit high school students to participate in the Career and College Promise program.
• Serve as admission and registration contact for students in the CCP program and maintain records throughout the student’s enrollment in CCP.
• Advise and enroll students in SCC courses based on student’s identified pathway and interests
• Conduct follow-up and customer service functions regarding dual enrollment courses for dually enrolled students, their high school officials, and the community.
• Report grades to county high schools. • Work with Student Services staff to ensure compliance with CCP regulations.
• Serve as a liaison between SCC Instructors and high school staff.
• Provide academic support to SCC instructors teaching High School Students.
• Serve on campus committees as requested.
• Build positive relations between Sandhills Community College and the Moore County school district.
• Coordinate and Facilitate orientations and information sessions for students, staff, counselors, and parents.
• Collaborate with all stakeholders as appropriate to identify resources and needs to aid in student access and success.
• Respond to emails from students, colleagues, Department Chairs, Deans, VPs, and President in a timely and professional fashion.
• Remain available, responsive, and approachable while working with advisees and/or students.
• Demonstrate respect for advisees and/or students as individuals; this includes respecting the confidentiality of information shared while interacting.
• Maintain knowledge and awareness of SCC policies/procedures and incorporate those policies/procedures in records/reports in a timely manner
• Treat others with dignity and respect and be committed to the highest standards of conduct and decency. Discourage any form of harassment, bullying, and/or abrasive behavior directed at colleagues, students, and campus visitors. Qualifications
Associate Degree considered, but bachelor’s degree preferred. Ideal candidate has experience in teaching or administration at the high school level to include advising, instruction and/or counseling. Experience in working closely with parents and members of the community; excellent written and oral communication skills; and strong computer skills. Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate and/or necessary by Assoc. Dean, Vice-President, and Senior Vice-President.
Working Conditions:
Requires travel to work in the local service area and surrounding areas. May occasionally require evening or weekend hours during peak times.
