We are seeking a Career Transition Teacher to join our team!
What the Career Transition Teacher does:
In coordination with the Career Specialist, Employment Manager, Related Services and Behavior Staff, the Career Transition Teacher provides classroom instruction; plans career-related field trips and tours; arranges for speakers. In addition, The Career Transition Teacher:
- Develops Career Education curriculum for high school courses.
- Assists with the implementation of Career Evaluations and Assessment procedures.
- Arranges career-based field trips and tours.
- Maintains classroom budget, and reports expenditures to supervisor.
- Provides direct classroom instruction in CRD 1 and CRD 2, Living on Your Own, Consumer Math and other subject areas as assigned.
- Selects appropriate instructional materials and strategies based on the curriculum to implement in all required subject areas.
- Counsels students in job procurement and job maintenance skills.
- Assists and counsels students regarding work skills and behaviors.
- Evaluates students’ current levels of academic and behavioral functioning, and periodically reevaluates to make program adjustment.
- Organizes classroom furniture and equipment to create a pleasant and effective learning environment.
- Actively supervises students throughout the day to ensure safety, including, but not limited to hallway transitions, bus and playground duty.
- Implements individual and group behavior management programs.
Qualifications
What the Career Transition Teacher brings to the team:
- Bachelor’s Degree, required.
- Minimum qualification for a Provisional Certificate in special education at the appropriate level, or content area.
- Experience working in special education or a related field preferred.
