Career Navigator Team Lead

SUMMARY:

While delivering innovative solutions, exceptional service and trusted results, the Career Navigator Team Leadprovides training, guidance and support to the case management personnel assigned a caseload of Family Independence Temporary Assistance Program/ Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (FITAP/TANF) customers. The Career Navigator Team Lead may also manage a caseload and is responsible for ensuring that case management personnel effectively engage eligible customers to assist them with career coaching and ultimately obtain sustainable employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide day-to-day operational guidance to staff and manage daily operations to foster a positive, innovative, and productive environment.
  • Ensure all contract-established outcomes are met and carried out in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Provide training, guidance and support to case management personnel.
  • Provide career counseling and intensive case management services that support and facilitate customers’ progression and compliance with TANF programs.
  • Complete intake and eligibility determination, assess jobseekers’ employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing and other methods.
  • Coordinate all services and ensure that customers are making meaningful progress towards preparing for, finding and retaining employment.
  • Perform program’s intake assessment by thoroughly completing all intake forms to include but not limited to reviewing assessments and initial individual responsibility plan’s (IRP) with the customer, conduct in-depth discussion with customer about assessment results and develop and/or amends customer’s IRP.
  • Counsel customers on the local labor market, available job opportunities, training programs and other services, referring individuals to appropriate services and follow-up on those activities.
  • Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements with all policies and procedures.
  • Participate in regular staff meeting, staff training, supervisory sessions, and accept the responsibility of aiding the development of positive team relationships.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs and other group presentations.
  • Meet and/or exceed contractual benchmarks, completing all required reports.
  • Travel approximately 50% of the time

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. The degree requirement may be substituted for eight (8) years of professional work experience.
  • Experienced with Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) workforce programs highly preferred.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience required.
  • Project Management certification not required but highly preferred.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Ability to learn and efficiently utilize various case management and program management software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
