The Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation, Carpenter Shop division is seeking applicants to fill two Carpenter II vacancies. The successful candidates will perform a full range of difficult, skilled carpentry work on Commission buildings, structures and properties, ensuring safety at all times. Performs construction, renovation and repair of rough and finished carpentry work. May direct activities and communication with other Carpenters, Maintenance Workers and Commission employees. Candidates are expected to read and interpret blueprints, building plans, schematic and as-built drawings, in order to determine materials, tools/equipment and method required to complete tasks. Ability to use a variety of manual and power carpentry tools to design and build custom cabinets, shelves, tables, doors and hardware, moldings, countertops, etc. Ability to complete required administrative paperwork and record keeping. Preferred and/or Desired ability to perform installation, maintenance and repair to Schlage Lock systems or other types of locks and to make new and duplicate keys.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
- Completion of an approved carpentry apprentice program or four (4) years of progressively responsible carpentry experience.
- Two (2) years of carpentry experience at the journey level.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total six (6) years.
- Valid driver’s license in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations. Driver’s license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee’s ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment.
- Depending on area of assignment, a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements may be required and must be in accordance with both State and Commission rules and regulations.
- Pass Commission medical examination.

- Two (2) times base salary; maximum benefit is $200,000 for each

Supplemental and Spouse/Dependent Life Insurance (Employee Pays 100%)
- Supplemental – 1,2,3,4, or 5 times base salary; maximum benefit is $750,000

Sick Leave Bank (Contribution and Benefit hours prorated for part-time employees)
- Employees have 60 days from date of hire to enroll.
- Employee contributes 8 leave hours each year
- Annually covers up to 688 hours for own serious medical condition, and 480 hours for parental responsibilities (birthadoption or foster care), and 80-160 hours for serious medical condition of an immediate family member
