Carpenter II is responsible for building and assembling wooden crates, skids, pallets and/or any special packaging required.
Job Description
Role and Responsibilities Duties:
- Assemble and build crates, skids, pallets and/or other special packaging.
- Complete hood boxes, heat shrink, and vacuum pack.
- Block and brace containers and flat racks.
- Build complex and custom boxes as assigned.
- Ensure is clean and in good condition, and does not contain any bark.
- Stamp finished products with Heat Stamp.
- Ensure finished product is of DGM quality standards.
- Clean working area and surrounding areas as assigned.
- Assist other carpenters or packers with packing duties.
- Maintain and take care of company equipment and property.
- Demonstrate safe lifting techniques and adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and guidelines.
- Participate in clean-up activities and ensure good housekeeping skills.
- Assists and trains Carpenter I employees.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- 2+ years carpentry experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Experience in crate building and hand and power tools.
- Experience with operating forklift and pallet jack.
Skills/Qualifications
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and personnel.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and written procedures, and demonstrate safe decision making in all aspects.
- Ability to prioritize work based on safety, quality, and productivity demands.
- Ability to use hand & power tools, including nail guns, staple guns, saws, drills, etc.
- Ability to read and use a measuring tape proficiently, and apply basic math skills.
- Demonstrates carpentry skills and can work with limited supervision when provided with a project.
- Ability to read, write and speak English Language.
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly for the duration of the shift.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time; bend, kneel and lift cumbersome and/or heavy objects.
- Willingness to work in inclement weather situations.
- Willing to work other than scheduled times when needed to meet deadlines or ensure that daily work is completed.
