Description
The Cary Arts Center and Page-Walker Arts & History Center are seeking outgoing individuals at least 18 years of age who are enthusiastic about giving back to the community. This position will serve in an administrative capacity, providing exemplary customer service to citizens visiting or contacting our facilities for programs, classes, performances, rentals and special events.

As a Center Aide, you will be part of our citizen support team. Your passion for providing exceptional customer service contributes to our high level of customer satisfaction. Often you will be the initial contact with our citizens, communicating in an open, helpful, and engaging manner, focusing on finding the right solution with each person.

This is a part-time, non-benefited, year-round position, up to 20 hours a week, with a maximum of 999 hours per year.

Typical Tasks
Provides a warm welcome to all visitors, providing above and beyond customer service in-person or via telephone or email;
Responds to in-person inquiries in a timely manner with quality service skills;
Handles room reservation inquiries for private reservations, programs, and events;
Works rentals and special events;
Assists with the setup and takedown for events and programs;
Proactively identifies facility needs and suggests solutions;
Notifies patrons of cancelations, changes or updates;
Models personal behavior that is consistent with the Town of Cary values and complies with Town of Cary policies and procedures;
Opens and/or closes and secures the facility when assigned;
Registers citizens for Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources programs, maintains citizen account records, and sells items;
Provides Town information and materials to citizens or redirects the citizen to the appropriate staff;
Assists in the orientation and training of new temporary staff;
Enforces Town of Cary policies and procedures;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Requires strong organizational skills; ability to work independently; knowledge of computers and related software; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to acquire knowledge of Town of Cary policies, procedures, and the services of the department; ability to work and interact with the public tactfully and constructively; ability to lift or move heavy objects, such as supplies or equipment; ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.

Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
