This per diem Certified Phlebotomy Technician/Front Office Clerk (Float) position has a variable schedule is located at Huntington Hill Imaging Center – Fair Oaks (Pasadena)!Pay range: $18/hour – $20/hourMore about the schedule —

  • Hours are variable: 6:30am-3:30pm/11am – 8pm (including a weekend rotation)
  • 2-3 days/week
  • Will travel to other locations when needed (Glendora, West Covina)

In this vital role you will support the MRI and CT departments as a liaison between patients and our medical support staff. You will also serve as a backup for the Front Office department. The ideal candidate will need to communicate well, be organized, and to take initiative to provide the best patient care possible.

What You Will Do:

  • Checks schedules and organizes patient flow.
  • Take patients to a changing room and instruct them to change into a gown.
  • Take the patient’s medical history, review and sign paperwork.
  • Start an IV if required. Perform the iSTAT test if necessary.
  • Explain the exam to patients.
  • Set up patients on the CT scanner.
  • Set up patients on the MRI scanner by positioning coils & positioning patients.
  • Assist with difficult patients and exams as needed.
  • Books, coordinates and reschedules patients’ appointments. Relays necessary messages to staff.
  • Greets and checks in patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner. Verifies necessary information and records in the medical record.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physicians and technologists schedules.
  • Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information. Answers questions regarding patient appointments and testing.
  • Assembles patients’ charts for next day visit. Updates profiles on all patients.
  • Type correspondence as directed. Sorts and delivers mail, medical records, and other correspondence.
  • Oversees waiting area, coordinates patient movement, reports problems or irregularities.
  • Check email daily. Turn on computer. Turn off all computers at the end of the day.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Attends meetings as required.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Serves as a backup for the Front Office department.

What You Will Bring:

  • Phlebotomy Technician Certification (CPT) issued by the CDPH required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office or imaging center setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
  • Word processing and computer experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic medical terminology and computer skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
  • High level of organizational skills, integrity, and accuracy.
  • Must be a self-starter with an ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of insurance both Commercial and Managed Care
  • Basic understanding of ICD-9 and CPT codes.
  • Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
  • Skill in tact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
  • Skill in understanding patient education needs and effectively sharing information with patients and families.
  • Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
  • Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

What Your Work Environment Will Be Like:

Work is performed primarily in the CT and MRI areas with extensive contact with individuals and frequent interruptions. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Must be able to lift 10 pounds. Must be able to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods. Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
