Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Project Management Office in the Office of Information Technology is looking for a Change Manager to work alongside our team on a variety of IT-related projects to ensure the “people side of change” is given the attention and respect it deserves. The adoption, usage, and long-term success of our projects is highly dependent upon the consideration of change management throughout discovery, planning, and implementation. We are seeking a Change Manager who is passionate about change management principles, change readiness, communication, and process improvement. Primary responsibilities include creating and implementing change management strategies, developing plans to maximize user adoption and minimize resistance, and driving faster adoption – all with the goals of creating higher utilization, greater proficiency of changes that impact users, increasing benefit realization, and supporting the project team to reach expected results and outcomes.
This position may have the opportunity to work remotely where all work is performed from an alternative work location either within or outside the state of Idaho.
Department Overview:
The OIT Project Management Office (PMO) prioritizes, plans, and executes information technology projects on behalf of University stakeholders. We specialize in bringing together diverse project teams and OIT professionals to implement meaningful projects in an efficient, thoughtful manner.
Level Scope:
Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of area typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
Essential Functions:
• Apply change management processes and tools to projects, including developing and implementing change management strategies and associated plans, to prepare users for projects initiated by the Office of Information Technology and its stakeholders.
• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams, stakeholders, sponsors, and subject matter experts to develop change management strategies based on project scope, deliverables, and the groups impacted by the change.
• Perform analysis to understand the changes a project will introduce. Identify impacted stakeholders and determine how they will be affected.
• Work with project managers to develop engagement schedules and ensure all change management activities are planned for.
• Support work on communications and, depending on the makeup of the project team, design and deliver communications. Provide presentations and recommendations to leadership as needed.
• Provide input to training strategies and support the design and delivery of training.
• Conduct routine checks to ensure change initiatives are on track, project teams align with change strategies, and change sponsors are informed.
• Become familiar with Boise State’s organizational structure, culture, and operations to develop relationships with stakeholders and users, and assist them with process work that advances their business objectives.
• Contribute to benefits-realization and lessons-learned retrospectives at the close of a project.
• Serve as a role model and resident expert regarding change management.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Experience with and knowledge of change management concepts, tools, and techniques.
• Experience designing strategies for and leading change management initiatives. Experience supporting or leading large-scale organizational change initiatives.

• Familiarity with project management methodologies and phases of the project lifecycle.
• Experience with virtual presentation tools, applications for surveying and user engagement, and online training modules. Familiarity with ERP systems.
• Preferred experience in a communication or change management role in higher education.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 5 years relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Two years of professional experience in change management, project management, or similar.
• Current change management certification, such as Prosci, CCPM, or Lean Six Sigma. Salary and Benefits:
Starting salary of $70,000/per year, commensurate with experience.
