About the role:

As a Character Artist II you will be working closely with Lead artist and Art Director creating assets to benchmark quality. You will own/lead mid-scale complexity tasks. The character artist plays an essential role in Apex game development. You will create a cast of characters to populate the rich universe of the AAA title. A character artist is a dynamic and efficient modeler with sculpting and texturing skills – able to create outstanding content along with an imagination that is always in motion. Someone who can create amazing models based on 2D concept art or 3D concept models.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Character creation and core game development collaborate with other disciplines.
  • Work closely with the art director and the art lead in building a cohesive vision for the stylized realism art.
  • Contributing to visual targets and prototypes.
  • Ensuring character assets are at quality for final delivery.
  • Making modeling and topology decisions based on their understanding of rigging.
  • Designing and Creating textures with an understanding of shaders and shader graph networks.

Your Qualifications:

  • Experienced with 2+ year of industry character creation production
  • Experience in high-fidelity 3D modeling / sculpting techniques, along with high-poly to low-poly surface/detail baking.
  • Knowledgeable of PBR texture / material workflows.
  • Experienced in working with content-driven game engines (e.g. Unreal, Frostbite, Unity).
  • Visualize in three-dimensions and work from limited reference material / concept art
  • Experienced in creating game resolution topology with considerations for deformation and rigging.
  • Knowledgeable in the creation of cloth and clothing and how you should match the art style.
  • Expert in high-fidelity 3D modeling / sculpting techniques, along with high-poly to low-poly surface/detail baking.
  • Efficient in use of UV layout, and ability to edit for highest visual payoff.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.

Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.

BASE SALARY RANGES
• California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
° $95,450 – $141,800
• New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
° $89,200 – $141,800
• Jersey City, NJ:
° $105,250 – $141,800
• Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
° $89,200 – $118,550
• Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
° $89,200 – $130,750

Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
