Job Description
Have you ever wanted to be part of something that truly matters Do you have a desire to help the world’s best Navy Duties include Conceiving, organizing, promoting, and executing ideas and plans that emphasize chemistry to solve problems. Designing and implementing chemical processes, instrumentation, and equipment to ensure effectiveness in process engineering and to bring manufacturing efforts to scale with maximum efficiency and productivity. Performing trials, tests, and/or experiments to support engineering, production and/or R&D activities. Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting numerical data from various sources such as experiments and studies. Developing research proposals to provide a technically and economically sound basis for developing and evaluating new or improved products, methods, processes, and analytical and physical testing techniques. Preparing comprehensive documented observations, analyses, and interpretations of results. Establishing operating equipment specifications. Researching and developing new and improved chemical manufacturing processes or chemical monitoring of reactor plants. Developing and recommending new process formulas and technologies to achieve cost effectiveness and improved product quality. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, has an attention to detail, is able to evaluate data to draw conclusions about chemistry trends, and is able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment supporting the Navy.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
Preferred Skills
– Ability to quickly evaluate and troubleshoot technical problems.
– Willingness to work within a multi-disciplined team.
– Strong technical writing skills.

Pay Range
$61,000 – $93,400 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation’s submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
