Overview

The Orthopedic Practice is one of the largest groups in Denver with over 20 locations including MRI, physical and occupational therapy, sports medicine and anesthesia. We have over 100 physicians and advanced practitioners serving the Front Range. We are looking for an experienced healthcare leader to partner with us and grow our practice.

This role is employed through an affiliate of SCA Health.

Responsibilities

In partnership with the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the success of the orthopedic practice. The CEO leads the executive management team in the planning, organization and direction of practice operations and all ancillary services. The CEO works collaboratively with the Board to set the strategic direction of the practice and represents its interests to all constituents in the healthcare, government, and general business sector. The position is responsible for the overall fiscal, operational, clinical and compliance health of the practice. The CEO creates an atmosphere of transparency, continuous learning, and enthusiasm for excellence in every aspect of the practice.

Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Board and Practice President, the CEO is responsible for the MSO services supporting the practice operations.
  • As directed by the Board, CEO leads and executes the strategic initiatives and objectives of the physician office sites and all ancillary services.
  • Ensures a fiscally sound organization:
  • Collaborates with the executive management team to achieve financial results that are acceptable to partners, within industry norms and within parameters/covenants as established by financial partners.
  • Identifies and implements revenue enhancement and cost savings opportunities
  • Negotiates payor contracts in collaboration with the Board of Directors
  • Monitors and communicates key financial, operational, and clinical performance metrics for the practice.
  • Oversees key investments, business partnerships and financial decisions and communicates same to the Board of Directors.
  • Monitors and improves MD shareholder satisfaction, employee engagement and patient satisfaction. Creates a culture of service and leads by example.
  • Approves work procedures and standards for the practice and ensures consistent implementation, communication, and enforcement.

o Standardizes business processes to reduce variation and the cost of doing business.

  • Serves as the lead executive support for the Board of Directors and its related committees. Regularly communicates practice performance through reports and presentations to the Board and executive management team.
  • Ensures a stable and productive workforce:
  • Supervises, develops, and motivates the executive management team; ensures that they have the ongoing training and support to function effectively in their roles. Fosters an environment of accountability for the team at all levels.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Human Resources to:
  • Create a positive workplace atmosphere with high levels of retention.
  • Ensure that compensation (pay and benefits) are market appropriate.
  • Implement programs/activities to enhance employee satisfaction and minimize risk.
  • Ensures appropriate training is provided to practice staff.
  • Supports and coaches’ direct reports; conducts performance evaluations of these individuals and executes on necessary actions.
  • Ensures that the physicians and staff have proper resources to perform their responsibilities.
  • Provides motivation to all employees to achieve their best performance and high degree of productivity.
  • Oversees the practice compliance programs and reports all issues to the Board of Directors.
  • Ensures appropriate reporting to all oversight agencies at the federal, state and local level.
  • Represents the organization to business partners, community members, and the general public.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Exudes positive, helpful attitude to patients, staff and physicians.
  • Maintains the strictest confidentiality in all aspects of work, including patients, proprietary business information and personnel.

Requirements

CEO REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have, as a minimum, 10 years’ experience in physician practice management, orthopedic leadership experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of executive level (C-suite) experience.
