SPECIAL NOTES:

Four (4) years of Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Marketing experience OR Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in Finance, Accounting, Marketing or Business Administration is required.

Preference:

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, marketing, or business administration.

Additional requirements:

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience of three (3) or more employees.

Additional preference shall be given to applicants with:

  • Marketing experience.
  • Experience developing, monitoring, and maintaining a balanced budget.
  • Experience developing and working with legislative staff on issues that require legislative action.
  • State of Florida contract management experience.
  • Experience in giving presentation and facilitating meetings.

This anticipated salary for this position is between $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of the financial markets. Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business planning, coordination, and execution. This may include strategic planning, resource allocation and leadership techniques. Skilled at working on multiple projects at once. Skilled at independently making decisions and solving problems. Skilled at using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different processes. Skilled in understanding, interpreting, and applying laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Skilled in making presentations. Ability to manage the Bureau to ensure all functions are operating efficiently and effectively. Ability to supervise, manage, train, motivate and evaluate performance of assigned staff. Ability to manage the Bureau’s budget. Ability to manage the Bureau’s human resources needs. Ability to work with all levels of management and staff. Ability to work with staff from other State Agencies. Ability to support staff on issues/questions they have. Ability to provide input on Bureau related information system needs in relation to system enhancements. Ability to represent the Bureau at meetings. Ability to work overtime. Some travel required.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position Manages all aspects of the Deferred Compensation Bureau and Program for the State of Florida.

Promotes the Deferred Compensation Program by making presentations to government employees and through soliciting agency management support for the program. Identifies areas for potential marketing and educational needs of the Deferred Compensation Program. Designs and writes marketing and educational materials, documents, and other communication materials to meet the needs of the program. Provides information for the Deferred Compensation website.

Drafts and reviews legislation and/or administration rules pertaining to the function and responsibilities of the Deferred Compensation Plan. Maintains thorough knowledge of all state and federal statutory changes governing the various aspects of the operation of a federally approved 457 plan and communicates them with the Director.

Manages the OPS Tax Alternative Program.

Acts in a fiduciary role for the 457 Plan.
