Description
CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES CASEWORKER
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors Degree in Social Work or in a child related or social services field preferred.
- High School Diploma Required
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least one year of experience working directly with children in a child related field preferred.
- OR Some College (20 credits) with at least three years of experience working directly with children in a child related field or volunteer work
- OR High School Diploma and at least five years of experience working directly with children in child related field or volunteer work
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have the ability to work with persons from various ethnic backgrounds, with particular emphasis in working with families of African-American heritage
- Ability to navigate and input data into the Key Information Demographics System
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Expected caseload is approximately 15-17 cases – PLEASE NOTE THAT ACTUAL CASELOAD WILL VARY ACCORDING TO AGENCY NEED;
- Provide a full range of emergency/temporary Kinship Care or related services to Caregivers parents and children (which includes training, crisis intervention services, placement and monitoring, transporting and conducting the CANS assessment)
- Work on-call hours as directed;
- Interface with all providers for the purpose of planning meetings;
- Prepare monthly progress reports and other reports that are required by Allegheny County Children and Youth Services, DPW and this agency;
- Adhere to all other program and agency policies and procedures governing the objective of the agency and program; and
- Required to be certified in CANS (Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths) Training and maintain the CANS certification annually.
This position requires a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends.**
