The Child Care Attendant will be responsible for babysitting children between 6 months and 8 years, perform clerical tasks, and assist with cleaning duties. Ideal candidates may also cross-train for Facility Attendant.

Job Duties
- Supervise, with staff support, a maximum of ten children between the ages of 6 months and 8 years, responding appropriately and safely to situations involving behavioral issues, bodily fluids, illness, or other.
- Supervise children at all times providing for their safety as well as their enjoyment. Children must never be left unsupervised.
- Attends relevant staff meetings and trainings.
- Is available for flexible work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Leaves Children’s Center room clean and in order. Cleans and sanitizes toys, tables, counters and frequently touched areas at the end of each shift.
- Collect and put away equipment and supplies for group activities.
- Check supplies and equipment for wear and tear and advises if supplies or equipment need repair or replacement.
- Monitors locker rooms and common areas for cleanliness, and performs light cleaning as needed.
- Demonstrates a mature and professional attitude through dependability, punctuality and genuine awareness.
- Provides excellent customer service to all patrons. Maintain a professional, diplomatic, and friendly relationship with patrons.
- Promptly greet patrons in a pleasant and friendly manner.
- Follows all safety guidelines while using City of McHenry facilities.
- Administer first aid when absolutely necessary.
- Ensures adherence to safety and injury prevention policies and procedures; prepares accident reports as required.
- Keeps an open line of communication with Recreation Supervisor regarding daily operations, problems, and member feedback.
- Perform the job safely and in compliance with City of McHenry policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee manual.
- Performs related duties as required by management to meet the needs of the Parks & Recreation Department and the customer.
Qualifications
- Applicant must be 16 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of child development, education or program instruction is preferred.
- Prior experience babysitting or working with children is required.
- Children’s Center Attendant must be reliable, responsible and relate well with children and co-workers.
- Requires strong people and customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the staff and public.
- The successful candidate must project a professional appearance.
- Must have a CPR, AED and First Aid certification or be willing to complete certification training within the first 60 days of employment.
