POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides direction for the program and classroom, and implements program curriculum similar to one of a childcare center. Provides a quality experience to children and parents while they stay in The Melrose Y Childwatch room. The candidate will facilitate a structured environment to enhance the experience. We are currently seeking individuals who can work Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30pm-7:30pm and Saturday mornings from 8:15am-11:15am
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Help with implementation of curriculum including daily lesson/activity plans.
- Supervises the children, classroom by sight and sound.
- Provides daily communication with parents/guardians about child’s day verbally, written journals and or white boards.
- Awareness and adherence to all program policies and procedures as outlined in health care policy, parent handbook and staff handbook.
- Maintains program site and equipment.
- Cleans classroom and toys at the beginning/end of every shift.
- Engages with children and provides daily activities.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training at the Melrose YMCA facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 16 years of age.
- Childcare experience is preferred.
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications within 6 months of hire.
- Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have physician’s clearance to work with young children.
