CHILDRENS CLINICIAN LIP

POSITION SUMMARY: Support the goals of BHcare by providing clinical services based on best practices to children and their families in the outpatient clinic while collaborating with the treatment team in diagnosis and referrals to appropriate services.
Schedule: M, T, W, TH, F / Varies – 2 days until 7/7:30pm, 3 days until 6pm or earlier.
Accountable and responsible for the following results:
- Conduct intake assessment/psychosocial evaluations for clients coming through open access entry and/or scheduled appointments, make necessary referrals and develop treatment plans.
- Manage inquiry phone calls and referrals for childrens service
- Assess clients abilities, mental health status and substance abuse status, needs and preferences and appropriateness of services.
- Provide emergency assessment and crisis intervention.
- Conducts diagnostic assessment updates for all clients upon hospital discharge and make appropriate referrals to support engagement in outpatient level of care.
- Complete initial screening and point of entry/intake registration for new clients coming to through open access.
- Serve as primary clinician for caseload, as determined by clinical program manager.
- Provide individual/family psychotherapy, which is flexible and responsive to clients needs.
- Assist clients on caseload with developing and implementing individual treatment plans.
- Monitor and analyze utilization review and productivity of caseload and make adjustments as needed
- Complete progress notes, documenting progress on service goals and objectives, psychosocial histories, admissions and discharge summaries, and other documentation within the Organizations guidelines for timeliness.
- Provide timely documentation and data to Organizations departments
- Perform supervised urine screening as needed.
- Collaborate with hospital staff regarding inpatient treatment and discharge planning.
- Serve as a liaison between client, family, other Organization programs, other parts of the mental health system, and other community resources. Provide advocacy as appropriate.
- Foster collaboration within the treatment team and among Organization departments.
- Maintain clinical records in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures, and meet all requirements indicated by payer and licensure sources.
- Participate as a member of clinical services department and provide back up for clients needs as necessary.
- Licensed clinicians may supervise student interns or other staff working toward obtaining licensure. Unlicensed clinicians are actively working towards obtaining licensure.
- Adhere to any changes in clinically scheduled hours as may occur based on client needs for services including but not limited to evening hours.
- Will maintain productivity requirement set by Director of Children’s Services and/or Program Manager.
- Attends training sessions, workshops, seminars as requested by supervisor, or as needed for professional development, or as required for accreditation or licensing.

Qualifications
- Master’s or doctoral degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling, psychology or a related mental health field required
- A minimum of one-year experience in a psychiatric setting providing therapy to children and families.
- Crisis intervention and experience providing assessment/evaluation to children and adolescents preferred.
- Must be proficient with PCs and Microsoft Office Word & Outlook, able to perform concurrent documentation and navigate through electronic health record.
- Current Professional CT Licensure required (LCSW preferred)
