Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Child Intake and Recovery Unit Worker. Under general supervision, this position will perform experienced professional child welfare support on cases of children who run away or are missing or abducted. The position will staff the Help Line for a specific shift and take calls of notification of missing children. The position will provide clarification and direction to public and private agency casework staff regarding reporting and follow up requirements and will maintain and monitor information in the data system. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and dedicated to helping locate runaway, missing, and abducted children and youth in care. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Child Intake and Recovery Unit Worker
2. Maintains and monitors information in the data system and, as necessary, follows up with direct service staff to ensure compliance
3. Receives or obtains information for after hour medical and psychiatric consents for youth
4. Receives calls from youth who are missing and provides information about returning
5. Receives and reviews CFS 1900/1901 forms for child welfare intake
6. Receives walk-in child welfare intake requests
7. Responds to information requests regarding children and youth who are missing
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
1. Preferably requires a master’s degree in social work; OR a master’s degree in a related human service field, supplemented by one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience; OR requires a bachelor’s degree in social work and one year of directly related professional casework/case management experience; OR requires a bachelor’s degree in a related human service field and two years of directly related professional casework/case management experience
The college or university issuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree must be accredited, and the degree program in social work must be approved by the Council on Social Work Education. The directly related professional casework/case management experience must be related to family preservation, family reunification, adoption, youth development, counseling, and advocacy services or a related field.
Conditions of Employment
