The Naval Nuclear Laboratory comprises the U.S. Department of Energy locations and personnel responsible for developing advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, providing technical support to ensure the safety and reliability of our nation’s naval nuclear reactors, and training the Sailors who operate those reactors in the U.S. Navy’s submarines and aircraft carrier Fleets. Job Description

Are you an experienced Civil Engineer Are you looking for a challenging position at a company with an honorable mission supporting the US Navy, excellent and competitive benefits, great work/life balance, job stability, and diverse opportunities for career enhancement The Naval Nuclear Laboratory Construction Engineering organization is seeking an experienced engineer who is knowledgeable in civil engineering disciplines (structural, environmental, or geotechnical), is a motivated self-starter, and who enjoys working in a team environment. The Construction Engineering organization is a multi-disciplined group of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers. The successful candidate will be the technical lead on a project execution team that consists of a Project Manager, Contract Professional, Project Analyst, Field Oversight Representative, and other Engineers to deliver needed infrastructure projects at the Naval Reactors Facility located on the Idaho National Laboratory site. Responsibilities typically include the development of design contracts (technical specifications, cost estimates, etc.), technical oversight of project design to ensure all project requirements are met, and support of field inspections to ensure that requirements of technical drawings, codes, and specifications are met. Project assignments range from multi-year, multi-million dollar investment projects to smaller scope, short duration projects.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

BS degree in engineering or Bachelor’s degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of relevant experience or; MS degree in engineering or Master’s degree in a science related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of four years of relevant experience or; Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified or EDO and two years as EOOW in the Nuclear Operations Program or Three years as SRE plus Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only) or SRE qualified and six years of experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of infrastructure design and construction.
  • Experience with construction and/or design cost estimating.
  • Knowledge of industry and building trade practice, techniques, codes, and standards.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer aided design (CAD) drafting software
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and able to interact with all levels of personnel, management, subcontractors, and government oversight.

Pay Range

$93,400- $140,000 annually
