Job Description
The CLASS office (Disability Resources) is seeking to hire 3- 4 students for the 2023-24 academic year. This position is scheduled to work approximately 8-15 hours a week. The scheduled hours may vary. The CLASS Office is open from 8am-6pm Monday-Friday.
The CLASS Office leads the Augsburg community in advancing disability access and equity. We welcome any student to apply for this position who wants to help us in upholding our mission. Here is what the access assistant role includes (training is provided):
- Assist the CLASS Office with accommodation and office related tasks.
- Daily communication (in-person, e-mail, phone) with faculty, students and staff for items involved in testing, note-taking, and alternative format text.
- Manage a database of testing schedules, and prepare envelopes for exams being taken in the testing center.
- Proctor exams, schedule proctors for exams as needed, and support oversight of testing in the CLASS Office.
- Support the Assistive Technology/Accommodations specialist with alternative format production. This process involves on-the-job training that will provide an access assistant with the knowledge of how to use assistive technology and other specialized software.
Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled at Augsburg University.
- Must be work-study eligible.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience preferred.
- Computer skills: Recommended experience with Excel, Google Sheets, online databases and Adobe.
Requirements:
- Attention to detail.
- Comfortable with managing multiple tasks at the same time.
- Maintain confidential student information when working on job tasks.
- Communication skills: Communicate well with students, faculty, and staff in-person, on the phone, and in online interactions.
- Task management and organizational skills: Problem solve and prioritize work related tasks with assistance from other office staff, and maintain an organized work environment.
- Flexibility in schedule: Most hours for this position will be within 8am-6pm. However, there may be on-call hours available for evening exam proctoring as needed.
