Summary of Position
The class works under general supervision and requires working knowledge of clerical systems and procedures in order to perform general clerical tasks involving several variables; incumbents are free to make some work procedural decisions which do not contravene policies.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 50% – Works with university and public on parking ticket billing. Researches and responds to complaints and inquiries regarding deposits, violations, appeals, and student and non-student billing with various constituents. Reviews incoming correspondence and acts accordingly. Opens cash drawers, sells, and bills parking permits for each semester; solves problems and implements new procedures for non-student billing. Processes daily deposits as needed. Makes necessary mathematical computations for posting and maintenance of non-student billing records. Issues credit memos for student and non-student billing and prepares and processes contracts with individuals and groups for rental of parking facilities. Assigns work to office student workers.
45% – Assists customers at the counter. Matches receipts with credit card statement. Prepares weekly report of shuttle activity. Prepares daily information sheet and distributes as needed.
5% – Orders office supplies. Interviews and trains students as assigned.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, M-T-W-Th-F 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of: regulations, policies, and procedures*; basic mathematic principles; office practices and procedures; public relations.
Skill in: use of computer, calculator, and/or adding machine.
Ability to: deal with problems involving several variables within familiar context; read, copy, and record figures; read short sentences with concrete vocabulary; copy records precisely without error; arrange items in numerical or alphabetical order; sort items into categories according to established methods; code items from one symbolic form to another; check pairs of items that are similar or dissimilar; sort mail; assess questions and provide appropriate information or referral; cooperate with co-workers on group projects.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and at least two years of experience in office practices and procedures and/or public relations.
Preferred Qualifications: Evidence of strong customer service skills; experience using Microsoft Word and Excel; experience working in an office environment.
