Position Description
Our E&U consulting practice is focused on providing profitable growth for our firm, crafting value for our clients as a trusted industry advisor, and providing exciting professional opportunities for our people to grow in their careers. We are in the midst of a period of rapid growth and are seeking an experienced leader with deep Utilities domain experience in areas such as Transmission, Distribution, Generation, and Customer Experience.
As a key member of our Consulting team, this individual will be able to sell and deliver client engagements across consulting, as well as develop industry specific solutions for our Utility clients.
As a domain expert, you will work as an inspiring leader crafting solutions and opportunities across existing and new logo clients to help them digitally transform their businesses. You will also be a coach and mentor to our junior consulting team members developing and preparing them to be our next group of industry leaders.
This specific role is to a be the Consulting leader working in collaboration with our Client Partner responsible to sell and deliver consulting engagements linked to our industry strategic control points with one of our larger Utility accounts.
Responsibilities
- Have the ability to position industry insights as they pertain to client needs & requirements
- Drive business development through activities such as pre-sales client presentations, research, and writing proposal, RFP responses and SOWs
- Deeply understand their client’s business challenges, and provide thought leadership in addressing these issues
- Shape, define, and close new business opportunities for consulting driven engagements
- Lead key transformation initiatives along with key client management and provide electric and utilities business consultancy/expertise in preparing roadmap and program execution
- Direct consulting project execution ensuring client satisfaction and project profitability
- Handle client relationship and communications.
- Leverage your industry network to proactively develop sales opportunities to grow our practice.
- Work proactively to bring the best of Cognizant expertise to their client(s)
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of consulting and transformation experience in the North American Energy & Utility industry covering regulated and de-regulated markets
- Must possess a good understanding of the IT landscape in domain areas such digital plant, customer service, asset performance management, renewable energy, grid modernization, and cyber security. including technology systems such as:
- AMI and Smart metering Geospatial Information Systems
- Field Force Mobility IT-OT Integration
- ADMS DERMS
- EAM and APM Connected Worker Solutions
- CIS/Customer Experience
- Demonstrated experience effectively positioning and closing advisory consulting engagements
- Strong experience in conducting client workshops and facilitating partner meetings
- Experience in reporting, documentation, presentation, and excel data management
- Excellent communication & presentation skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated success in building and growing a consulting offering portfolio
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred in related fields such as Engineering, Innovation, and Business.
- Demonstrated experience advising the full client engagement lifecycle for a large firm (proposal through delivery and project expansion)
- Ability to travel post COVID travel restrictions

Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $137,390 – $203,130 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
