Project Rachel is recognized by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops as the post-abortion healing ministry of the Catholic Church in the U.S. Introduced to Washington State in 1993, Project Rachel provides compassionate, confidential listening, referrals to trained priests and counselors and/or healing retreats to women and men across Western Washington.
Position Description
The Project Rachel Retreat Consultant is responsible for providing direct service to women and men of impacted by abortion as well as the coordination of retreats and volunteers with support from the Project Rachel Program Coordinator. This position provides clinical expertise in a retreat-group therapy setting and offers an avenue of emotional and spiritual healing from the effects of abortion.
Responsibilities
- Become proficient in the Rachel’s Vineyard retreat model and register as a site leader.
- Work with Project Rachel Program Coordinator to prepare for and facilitate retreats.
- Lead volunteer teams through retreat preparation, retreat weekend and aftercare processes.
- Provide biannual retreat leadership and group facilitation format.
Qualifications
- Licensed psychotherapist in the state of Washington.
- Clinical skills to provide crisis intervention, facilitate retreats, and provide one on one emotional support in a Catholic retreat setting.
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, registered in a Seattle Archdiocese parish.
- Knowledge of the impact of abortion.
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to relate well to clients and volunteers from diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to foster an environment which honors and supports diversity and commitment to treating others with dignity and respect.
- Ability to work within the mission, goals and objectives of Project Rachel and Catholic Community Services.
