Job Description:
The College of Mount Saint Vincent is seeking a candidate for the position of Full Time Clinical Placement Coordinator. The Clinical Placement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating & managing the clinical placements of Graduate and Undergraduate students in the clinical portion of their curriculum. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Nursing for Clinical and Simulation Learning.
Responsibilities Include:
Placement: Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Clinical Skills and Simulation:
- Collaborate with the Clinical Placement Team to maximize clinical placement efforts.
- Communicate (via e-mail/phone/Canvas/Nurse Central) relevant reminders regarding deadline updates.
- Update and maintain accurate student records/correspondence/evaluations.
- Update, oversee, and follow up on all compliance standards. Review NYSED, CDC, OSHA and other government agencies routinely to assure compliance
- Collaborate with the Program Director and course coordinators to secure ongoing & new clinical sites.
- Create and maintain clinical placement schedules.
- Serve as a liaison to students for documentation and accesses required for clinical placement.
- Provide Clinical Adjuncts with all documentation required for student and adjunct placement.
- Serve as liaison to the clinical sites to share student and faculty information and meet with appropriate staff as needed.
- Secure clinical placements for assigned programs.
- Collaborate with Program Directors and/or course coordinators regarding clinical needs of the undergraduate program.
- Manage and participate in new student orientations
- Notify clinical agency/preceptor/clinical faculty of any student’s need to delay or interrupt clinical as necessary.
- Organize clinical placement processes and establish a shared network drive to store information useful to entire clinical placement team.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field
- Two years experience in clinical placement coordination and/or experience in nursing programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A proven record of working collaboratively in a team
- Familiarity with Castle Branch software system
