Clinical Services Specialist – Older Adult Behavioral Health Initiative (OABHI)

**This recruitment is designated as a hybrid role with routine telework and periodic in-person community outreach required. Currently, all employees must reside in Oregon or Washington; the county cannot support ongoing telework from other states. The work schedule is Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 5:00PM.**

We’re seeking a visionary and dynamic leader who is creative in problem solving and contributes new ideas and solutions to the organization to join our team as the Older Adult Behavioral Health Initiative (OABHI) Clinical Services Specialist . In this position, you will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team across Aging, Disability and Veterans Services (ADVSD), Developmental Disabilities, Addictions Services and Mental Health Services to benefit older adults with multiple service needs. This position will be responsible for identifying current addiction resources in the community specific to the older adult population, coordinating services with other disciplines such as Health, Addictions, Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health to best meet the needs of the individual and to provide consultation and service coordination.

As the OABHI Clinical Services Specialist, other duties include:

Coordination of Direct Services

  • Provide coordination and collaboration between systems such as Aging and People with Disabilities (APD), Mental Health, Addictions, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), consumer groups, healthcare and other community services, in order to promote healthy living.
  • Maintain partnerships with agencies, health care providers and service providers that work with older adults and people with disabilities.
  • Provide short-term case coordination and follow-up for individuals with urgent and/or complex needs, including members with specialized health-care needs.
  • Duties may include follow-up contact with provider and/or members to ensure service appropriateness.
  • Provide assessment, treatment and referral recommendations.

Training

  • Develop and promote training opportunities in both ADVS, Mental Health, Addictions and IDD to address gaps in treating the older adult population, best practices and available community resources.
  • Plan training jointly across agencies and counties; provide information as needed to families, primary care providers and local community re: regional and statewide resources.
  • Participate in individual/group supervision and training to support job functions.

Resources

  • Identify current Alcohol and Drug Treatment and Recovery Resources in the community for the older adult population.
  • Identify gaps in service delivery systems, barriers to resource access.
  • Maintain and monitor access and referral to existing services in the community.
  • Work with state and county Older Adult Clinical Services Specialists to ensure client needs are appropriately and adequately addressed.
  • Identify elements to be tracked.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferable Skills*:

Education/Experience: Must have current Qualified Mental Health Professional – (QMHP) AND Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-I) certifications with the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO) – more information can be found at MHACBO website . Current QMHP and/or licensed Board of Oregon (LPC, LCSW, PHD, etc.) and (CADC-I):

  • Graduate degree in psychology or
  • Graduate degree in social work or counseling or
  • Graduate degree in a behavioral science field

Other:

  • Driver’s License required
  • This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted.
