Description

The Clinical Support Assistant position supports medical providers in the care of patients in a culturally diverse population within a clinic setting. This position provides direct patient services such as rooming, vitals, health screenings, health information updates, and health promotion activities.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare patients for the medical health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room. Verifies patient information by interviewing the patient, reviews and/or records medical history; takes and documents vital signs; and confirms reason for visit.
  • Perform certain procedures after successful completion of clinical competencies such as EKG, Spirometry, vision/hearing, vital signs, instrument cleaning/disinfection/sterilization.
  • Document in electronic medical record in an accurate and confidential manner.
  • Set priorities and organizes work to deliver safe and efficient patient care.
  • Respond effectively to urgent/emergency situations.
  • Monitor clinic safety and observance of standard precautions.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Facilitate team building and positive work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Demands and Physical Demands
This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. This job operates in a busy healthcare setting, and role must be able to juggle multiple demands. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This role may float to other MCC clinic sites if needed.

Travel
This position may require some travel between clinic sites for meetings/trainings.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous health care work experience, preferably in a medical setting preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Hmong) preferred
