Work you’ll do
The Cloud Automation Engineer will be responsible for all automation activities around the development, implementation, and maintenance cloud infrastructure, services, and third-party tools. You will design and build scalable, reliable, and secure automation frameworks to provision resources and deploy operational workflows. As a member of the cloud hosting team you will work closely with the software Engineering, DevOps, and client project teams to enable seamless and secure deployments of applications and services. This individual must have a thorough understanding and experience with AWS, GCP, and Azure. OCI is a plus. Must be an innovative problem solver, and visionary. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge in cloud architectures and CI/CD methodologies. The Cloud Automation Engineer will be focused on the following activities:
• Coordinate with Software Engineering, DevOps and Operations teams to define and implement cloud automation best practices and standards for AWS, GCP, Azure, and OCI cloud providers.
• Automate the deployment and management of cloud hosting environments using Infrastructure as Code and automation orchestration tools such as Ansible, Lambda, CloudFormation, Deployment Manager, or other cloud native services
• Work with DevOps team to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to deploy applications and services using Artifactory, Concourse, GitHub, ADO, & cloud native services
• Automate the instrumentation and monitoring of cloud infrastructure to optimize performance and efficiency
• Researching and evaluating the latest cloud automation technologies, tools, and capabilities to improve operational efficiencies and provide new services
• Work with application owners, and security team to ensure proper architecture and security standards are being followed and necessary security controls are implemented in environments
• Provide cloud costing, resource pricing, and RFP response for client projects and solutions in Deloitte’s hosting ecosystems
• Create technical documentation such as architectural diagrams, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
The team
Deloitte New Business Innovation (NBI) is an organization within Deloitte Consulting with the goal of building a culture of continuous innovation to drive profitable revenue through the identification, incubation, and actualization of breakthrough ideas in assets-based client offerings. The Cloud Hosting Infrastructure Team architects, automates, deploys, and supports the cloud environments through the entire project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Required:
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience designing and implementing automation for cloud platforms
• Bachelor-level degree in engineering, information technology, data communications, telecommunications, computer science, or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications. Certifications in cloud technologies preferred
• Extensive experience with scripting and programming languages such as Ansible modules, Python, PowerShell, and JSON
• Experience with automating third party services & application deployments. Snowflake SaaS is a plus.
• Hands on experience with infrastructure as code using CloudFormation, Terraform and other tools.
• Experience with Automation Orchestration tools Ansible, Lambda, Deployment Manager, and other cloud native services.
• Demonstrate experience with implementing, administering, and securing multi-tenant/vendor cloud environment
• Experience with networking and security in a multi-tenant environment including security groups, VPC peering, the transitive networking model, & Route 53
• Experienced in IaaS technologies such as EC2, EBS, S3, RDS, Elastic Load Balancing
• Experienced in management tools such as IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, Config, and Service Catalog
• Experience with virtual devices such as firewalls, ELB, VPG, & internet gateways.
• Design and Deployment experience in Linux and Windows.
• Experienced with containerization technologies and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes, EKS, and Faregate
• Experience creating CI/CD pipelines to deploy applications and services using Artifactory, Concourse, GitHub, ADO, & cloud native services
• Experienced in AWS, GCP, Azure or OCI cloud computing technologies and native cloud services
• Ability to work with service providers to enable managed services and new technologies. Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and issue management skills in a multi-platform environment
• Experience in working with on-shore, off-shore teams
• Demonstrated experience leading projects, interpreting project requirements, and working directly with clients to develop customized solutions
• Preferred ability and discipline to work and succeed in a fast pace and organizationally complex environment, to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology, and to lead and manage projects
• Excellent oral and written communications ability. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
Preferred:
• In Addition to AWS & GCP, knowledge in other cloud technologies such as Azure or OCI is a plus.
• DNS and certificate services knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with Snowflake is a plus
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $98,000 – $179,875.
