Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Cloud Oracle Database Administrator to support our Defense Mission and Health Solutions Sector on the Defense Travel System (DTS) program.
The position is mainly a telework position with occasional on site/office work in Herndon, VA required.
The position will be integral in migrating the current on-premises services to the AWS Cloud platform while providing operations support. Throughout the project, the team will be working closely with the DoD customer to prioritize functionality, structure sprints, and deliver rapid iterations.
- Must be a US Citizen and have an active/current DoD Public Trust designation and Common Access Card or be able to obtain prior to starting.
- Current Security+ CE certification or equivalent Security certification
- This is a hybrid opportunity, must live withing a commutable distance from Herndon, VA
The successful candidate will:
- Migrate DTS Oracle databases and environments into Oracle RDS residing on AWS GovCloud platform.
- Build out of Oracle RDS instances in AWS, configure security groups, and S3 buckets.
- Work with other teams and stakeholders in determining cloud migration requirements.
- Coordinate with developers, cloud/system/network administrators and other team members.
- Formulate policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization.
- Provide 24x7x365 Database Administration to include backup administration, security remediation, release support, and patching.
- Support planning, deployment, maintenance, and enhance database baseline configurations and security posture.
- Maintain technical expertise in all areas of database administration and supporting technologies and practices.
- Propose solutions to management to ensure all database requirements are based on future needs and current.
- Include tasks such as:
- setting up administrator and service accounts,
- maintaining database documentation,
- performance tuning of indexes and databases in general, and
- query performance
Qualifications
BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (Production Operations) for Computing Environment
- Must have a current Oracle certification from one or more of the following paths:
- Oracle Database 12c Certified Associate or higher
- Oracle Database 12c Certified Implementation Specialist – Database or Performance Tuning
- Oracle Certified Expert – RAC/Grid, Data Guard, or Maximum Availability
- Oracle SQL or PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate
CERTIFICATION REQUIRED (Production Operations) for Security Compliance
- Must have a current Security+ CE certification or equivalent Security certification
- Security+ CE (Preferred)
- CCNA Security
- CySA+ **
- GICSP
- GSEC
- CND
- SSC
- Two (2) or more years working in cloud computing environments such as AWS, Azure, Oracle.
- Two (2) or more years of experience with creating, configuring, and managing databases on cloud platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, handle stressful situations, prioritize workloads and schedules and solve problems
- Demonstrated ability to manage assigned tasks, interact with internal and external customers and development teams, and clearly communicate status information.
- Experience working with and administering Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control, version 12c or higher.
- Experience with other Oracle Products such as: Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Golden Gate.
- Experience with Subversion/JIRA (on UNIX/Linux).
- Experience with writing shell scripts in languages such as Perl and SHELL.
- Experience installing and managing Oracle databases on Unix systems.
- Experience with Extract, Transformation, and Load (ETL).
- Experience with large data warehouses and supporting methodologies.
- Experience with Oracle database security hardening and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Experience with Oracle database performance analysis and tuning, enhancements and corrective actions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security+ CE Certification
- Must have at least one of the following certifications
- Experience with writing shell scripts in languages such as Perl and SHELL.
- Experience with Oracle database security hardening and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Experience with Subversion/JIRA (on UNIX/Linux).
Experience installing and managing Oracle databases on Unix systems

Target Salary Range
$86,000 – $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
