The Cloud Security Operations Technical Lead is responsible for the support and maintenance of the cloud security tools, proactive identification of cloud security issues and collaborating with broader technology teams for driving remediation.
In addition, this team is also responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security threats and incidents in our cloud environment in partnership with SOC and IR teams.
Key activities and responsibilities include:
- Manage and govern a team responsible for handling the day-to-day activities supporting the Cloud Security tools.
- Ensure that the team is meeting SLO’s and SLA’s through the use of reporting via Service Now and our metrics dashboards
- Oversee the continuous monitoring of cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) for security threats, misconfigurations and vulnerabilities
- Identify operational efficiencies and improvement opportunities in cloud security tools and processes
- Ensure SOP documentation is kept up to date
- Assist with audit and assessment activities
- Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting for installed cloud security technical solutions, able to resolve nearly all operational issues.
- Work closely with stakeholders to integrate cloud best practices and tools (such as CSPM) to enable end to end visibility
- Escalate operational issues to appropriate engineering, vendors/3rd parties, remain engaged and follow through to resolution
- Support the security exception processes which may include providing activity reports, assisting with investigations and subsequent actionsIdentify and tailor cloud security controls to the NYL environment
- Assesses performance of installed technologies, analyzes data, identifying any unusual findings and escalates as appropriate.
- Provides input to design decisions, contributing an understanding of how the technology performs in the NY Life environment.
- Leads the testing of new technologies to be implemented in the environment, ensuring all scenarios have been tested in accordance with requirements.
- Makes decisions guided by function/business plans and policies that impact operations or an area of operations and communicates to management accordingly including where escalations are required
- Responsible for the delivery of end results focused on operational excellence
- Collaborates with peers to solve unique and complex issues; requires conceptual and innovative thinking and education and/or experience to develop solutions
Qualifications:
Minimum three years of experience being in lead role that is responsible for the support and operation of cloud environments and cloud security tools. Demonstrated team lead/supervisory experience in a similar capacity may be considered.
- 5-10 years of AWS and Azure (preferred) experience along with relevant certifications (e.g., CCSP, AWS certifications) Preferred AWS SysOps or DevOps certification a plus.
- Experience working with teams in remote locations such as India and Mexico.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and supporting enterprise-class security technologies and architectures is required.
- Strong communications and organization skills are required to be successful in this position.
- Strong public cloud provider experience, AWS, Azure, GCP, etc
- Experience troubleshooting application issues in an IaaS environemnt
- Working knowledge of DevOps and delivery tools (GitHub)
- Practical experience with modern scripting languages (Python, .Net, C#, Java, Powershell, Bash)
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Computer Science, Information Security, etc.) is a plus but not required.
