Position summary: The Facilities/CM department is searching for an Fire Protection Engineer (CM-FP) to perform duties in Manhattan, NY. The candidate shall have the capability to perform Constructability Reviews, Quality Assurance Monitoring, monitoring a contractor’s adherence to standards in order to meet the specifications and to avoid deficiencies in the work. Other requirements include the level of work performed daily, performing weekly and monthly reviews and reports; change order proposal reviews and schedule development adherence; recommendations pertaining to the integrated master schedules (IMS), written and oral communications and coordination efforts as required.
The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 – $140,000.00.
Essential functions and responsibilities
- The CM-FP shall possess experience reviewing design and construction plans against existing site conditions.
- The CM-FP shall possess experience in the resolution of unforeseen site and design conditions/problems and propose cost effective technical solutions.
- The CM-FP shall possess experience conducting inspections and inventories of such structures to identify and note deficiencies, problems, or the general physical condition of such structures.

Required Skills
- Knowledge of all aspects of commercial electrical construction including but not limited to Life Safety systems, Sprinkler systems, Fire Alarm systems, HVAC systems, testing and balancing, operations, sheet metal duct systems, and control systems including direct digital controls.
- Knowledge of low voltage systems including but not limited to fire alarm, telecommunication and data distribution, nurse call and code blue, motion intrusion detection, two way radio, security management and access control, public address, master antenna TV, and HVAC direct digital controls.
- Ability to provide cost estimates and take-offs for the structural contract modifications.
- Ability to determine compliance of workmanship, materials, equipment and installed work with contract requirements and industry standards.
- Working knowledge and understanding of building, safety, and environmental codes.
- Working knowledge of environmental, civil, safety, architectural and structural fields.
Required Experience
- CM-FP shall have 5 years’ experience practicing Fire Protection engineering. (10 years’ experience strongly preferred)
- CM-FP shall have 5 years’ experience inspecting fire protection construction.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledgeable with CPM scheduling. Experienced with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is preferred
- Experience working with governmental agencies at the city, county and state levels
- Knowledgeable in construction testing and inspection requirements
- Experience working in hospitals or medical facilities
- It is preferred that the CM-FP shall possess experience working in the state of New York.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in both an office and field (construction) environment. Office to field time is approximately 25% to 75% respectively. Field work requires climbing, walking and standing at a construction site and may be outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required.
