The role of the Restorative Aide is to implement the restorative care program in accordance with the establishedplan for restorative nursing as directed by the LPN Restorative Nurse Coordinator to assure that federal, state andlocal regulations are met and the highest degree of resident care is achieved at all times.The Restorative Aide is responsible to work with residents needing restorative nursing programs to achieve theirhighest possible practical level of independence. The Restorative CNA responsible for carrying out and providingconsistency for resident programs on a daily basis. All assigned tasks are carried out in accordance with policy andprocedures of Fellowship Manor and the Mission and RISE Core Values of Fellowship Community.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Current CNA certification in the state of Pennsylvania
Clinical CNA experience, a minimum of two (2) years.
Must be able to stand in order to perform required duties.
Must be able to communicate with persons who may be visually and or hearing impaired.
Be knowledgeable of the resident’s rights and responsibilities including the right to refuse treatment.
Has knowledge, skills and demonstrated competency in all restorative nursing principles and practices.
Conscientious, cooperative ability to work as a team member.
Knowledge and interest of the special needs / care requirements of the geriatric resident.
Understanding of the special needs / care requirements of the Geriatric Resident on a Short Term Rehab, including dementia care
Intermediate computer skills
Certified in Basic Life Support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides direct Level A and /or Level B restorative care, as assigned, completing work accurately, safely and in
a timely manner. Specific care may include, but not limited to:
1. Therapeutic Exercises
2. Bathing
3. Grooming
4. W/C mobility
5. Ambulation
6. Dressing
7. Transfers
8. ROM (Active and Passive)
9. Dining
10. Utilizing adaptive / assistive devices
11. Communication
12. Standing Tolerance
• Follows protocols and procedures for restorative nursing care as established by the plan for restorative
nursing care.
• Documents units of time spent with resident daily to signify that the specific restorative nursing program was
done.
• Documents residents’ progression / regression weekly in a narrative note on the Restorative Nursing Flow
Sheet.
• Notifies Restorative Nurse Supervisor when a person is regressing, progressing or refusing to participate in the
restorative program so that an assessment can be done and a change in the program made, as indicated.
• Participates in the restorative dining program and works with other nursing staff in accomplishing this.
• Provides guidance and assists with Level B restorative care.
• Coaches and assists floor CNA’s in positioning, ROM, ambulation, ADL specifics, cones / splints / contracture
care, safety device application, appropriate padding and W / C cushions and safety release devices.
• Assists with orientation and staff development in principles and practices of restorative nursing, as directed.
• Works with floor CNA’S, as necessary, to provide one-to-one when a resident is transferred from Level A
restorative nursing to Level B, as directed.
• Serves as a resource and teammate to other nursing assistants, working with them to provide restorative care
or any other basic care as needed.
• Observe and report the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdowns to prevent pressure ulcers.
• Assist in the restraint reduction policies as directed by the Resident Safety Committee.
• Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and caring with resident’s and staff that
fosters restorative care.
