The Boeing Company has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Reliability Modeling Systems Engineer (Level 4) to join our Boeing Commercial Airplane’s Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Engineering organization located in Everett, WA. The selected candidate will apply state-of-art reliability and safety engineering modeling and analysis principles.

The Boeing Company Reliability & Maintainability Engineering (R&M) organization enables the design & development, safety & airworthiness certification and in-service support & services of commercial airplanes by applying state-of-art reliability and maintainability engineering design, modeling and analysis principles. R&M engineering is a key functional discipline that supports the airplane development for optimal performance, lifecycle economics & compliance to safety and airworthiness requirements.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success.
  • Discovers new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking. Tries different and novel ways to deal with work problems and opportunities
  • Design for Reliability & Safety: Airplane and system design reliability requirements validation & verification, reliability requirements allocation to suppliers, failure modes, rates, effects, propagation and detection analysis, architecture & operational provisions, safety & certification analysis, certification support, reliability & durability testing.
  • Use modeling, simulation and data analytics methodologies & tools for statistical and probabilistic analyses.
  • Interact with airplane system suppliers, business partners, airline customers, airplane development program leaders, and functional management is typical, as is a high level of communication between the rest of the R&M Engineering internal organization, program teams, and functional design areas. Team involvement and individual effort, problem solving, and managing multiple actions and assignments will be regular duties for an R&M engineer

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelors of Science in engineering, computer science, mathematics and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience).
  • Relevant work experience includes; Reliability, Safety or Systems engineering experience on commercial airplane development & certification programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer Science experience with common algorithmic, probabilistic and/or modeling programs (R Code, Python, NodeJS, Java, JavaScript, HTML). Ability to learn new coding platforms with minimal supervision.
  • Experience developing Reliability Assessments (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, and Fault Tree Analysis).
  • Experience developing System Safety Assessments and Functional Hazard Assessments.
  • Experience with Safety Certification standards and regulations (ARP4761, FAA Part 25.1309, ACSAA 106, AC 25.1309 Arsenal Draft, CS-25 Amendment 24).
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (Protégé, Dassault Systems Cameo, Ontology/Taxonomy Development).
  • Experience with Data Science (Natural Language Processing, Neural Networks, ETL Data Pipeline, SQL).

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range Senior: $128,350 – $173,650
