Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Coastal Engineer/Project Manager to join our Water Management team in Virginia, preferably Virginia Beach.

As an Engineer/Project Manager, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge to lead and support our growing base of projects in Virginia and across the United States. You will also help our clients achieve business objectives by creating and implementing innovative and effective solutions for resilient natural and built assets.

To be successful in this role, you will have a proven reputation with clients as a professional and dynamic engineer who successfully executes projects. You will also have the ability to lead while working on a wide variety of projects alongside a resolute and experienced staff in a ‘hands-on’ role with an expectation of also supporting client development activities for municipal, state, federal, and private sector clients.

Role accountabilities:

  • Providing planning and design support for an existing and expanding client base in relation to coastal protection, stormwater management, environmental and social impact analysis, and other resiliency needs
  • Project management activities, including the management of a multi-disciplinary planning and engineering team, meeting project schedules, budgets, and quality objectives
  • Collaborating with national leaders, ensuring that organizational capacity is in place to deliver on projects in the area market
  • Preparing and/or reviewing design calculations and technical drawings
  • Supporting the expansion of the resiliency practice and the Arcadis brand to new customers
  • Engaging with strategic stakeholders in the local market
  • Acting as an ambassador for the local and national team, including representing Arcadis at conferences and other industry-related events

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or a related field
  • PE license or the ability to obtain a PE license within 6 months of hire date
  • 10 years of experience in water resources, civil, structural, and/or coastal engineering, with a focus on resiliency

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with preparation and/or review of engineering plans to ensure that all aspects of project implementation are clearly conveyed.
  • Prior experience serving as a project manager for complex engineering or multi-disciplinary resiliency projects
  • Experience with numerical modeling of flows in coastal, estuarine, or riverine environments
  • Solid experience working for municipal, industrial, state and/or federal client base in coastal resilience or a related area
  • Experience working on a variety of projects simultaneously and coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental Engineering or a related field
  • 12 years of progressive engineering experience

The salary range for this position is $97,600 – $168,000.
