The mission of Citywide Equity and Inclusion (CEI) is to foster the City of New York’s emergence as an innovative and global leader in equitable, diverse and inclusive employment practices. CEI is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of the City’s EEO Policy and other EEO-related policies and provided best practice guidance impacting the workforce across over 80 agencies (mayoral or non-mayoral). CEI develops and collaborates on strategies that fulfill the City’s EEO mandates and equity and inclusion initiatives which drive the development, engagement, advancement and retention of a diverse and inclusive workforce. CEI also guides city agencies as they establish their own DE&I strategies through the charter-mandated annual Diversity & EEO plans that set forth objectives and best practices to implement EEO policies, promote equitable workforce practices, engaging and respectful workplace environments.
Reporting to CEI’s Chief of Staff , the selected candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to the following tasks:
– Coordinates and reviews information or recommendations from departmental staff.
– Prepares agendas and fact sheets and secures the necessary background material for use at meetings and conferences.
– Coordinates and schedules meetings for the Citywide Equity and Inclusion.
– Responds to inquiries from the public and government officials.
– Provides administrative support to Citywide Equity and Inclusion and performing other duties as assigned.
– Conduct research and writing occasionally.
– Assist in executing special projects
*The position of the College Aide will be part-time and limited to 20 hours per week.
Minimum Qual Requirements
For Assignment Level I:
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school.
For Assignment Level II (Information Technology):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or closely related field, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study.
For Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow):
Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school with a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or other area relevant to the information technology project(s) assigned, including or supplemented by 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments to this Assignment Level will be made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications.
SPECIAL NOTE
Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half-time in any week in which classes in which the student is enrolled are in session. Students may be employed full-time during their vacation periods.

Residency Requirement
New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
