As a Sales Engineer with PenTeleData, you will be the pre and post sales technical resource for our commercial customers. You will interact daily with both commercial customers and partners.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Minimum 3 Years experience in related field
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • CCNA or CCNA-SP or other network related certifications

The technical, or “hard skills” we need run the gamut:

  • Deep understanding of network design in both layer 2 and layer 3 environments
  • Basic networking knowledge including understanding of the TCP/IP protocols, subnetting, IPv6
  • Basic understanding of static and dynamic (BGP) IP routing protocols
  • Working knowledge of Visio and building network maps
  • Familiarity with HFC networks and their general operation
  • Ability to configure DHCP and NAT on Cisco product lines
  • Ability to present facts and ideas verbally and written in a logical, sequential, and understandable manner
  • Ability to remain technical while using layman terms with non-technical customers
  • Some experience with Cisco CLI (IOS, XE, XR) languages and WebUIs (ASDM, CCP)
  • Must be self-motivated and able to operate with little supervision

The non-technical, or “soft skills” needed include:

  • Hi-level Project Management Skills – for customer turn-ups and changes
  • Exceptional Customer Service Skills
  • Ability to document findings accurately
  • Outstanding Troubleshooting Skills – thinking logically through problems
  • Ability to follow procedures and processes but still remain flexible for exceptional cases when they occur

Preferred Skills – these are “nice to have” but definitely not required:

  • Understanding NAT and how to configure it on Cisco devices; this includes Static and Dynamic NAT and the ability to explain it to customers
  • Basic understanding of ACL’s. ASA firewalls and building VPN tunnels
  • CCENT or comparable networking certifications
  • Ability to present to groups of people
