What you will be doing
This role will play an integral part in implementing long-term milk sourcing strategies for Albertsons Own Brands business. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be tasked with ensuring a stable, long-term supply of milk with a focus on supplier selection, relationship management, and price negotiation. This position partners with internal stakeholders to support their needs and drive category performance while delivering company cost of goods savings targets. It will drive the implementation of critical supplier performance management programs to ensure the supply base is excelling against established key performance indicators.
The job supports the day-to-day execution of strategies for assigned categories, focuses on reducing organizational spend, and facilitates the highest supply chain efficiency from supplier to store shelf, with lowest shelf delivered cost.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Support and implement raw material cost reduction and supply assurance opportunities following the 5-Step Sourcing process
- Conduct opportunity assessments, benchmarking, and should-cost modeling to develop sourcing opportunities
- Prepare category improvement projections and conduct post-implementation variance analyses
- Ensure material purchases are covered by a fully executed Supplier Agreement developed in close collaboration with the legal and contract management team in the administration of contract data, addendums, item master sheets, and additional supplier documentation
- Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce/source safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements
- Manage vendor relationships, track performance, and communicate performance feedback
- Monitor, track and report on savings and key performance indicators for category
- Resolve any unforeseen problems with suppliers relating to operations, purchasing, quality/performance, or logistics
- Develop presentation tools to be used in monthly and quarterly meetings with internal stakeholders and leaders
- Maintain dairy commodity data and analytical models for fast market data retrieval
- Evaluate cost changes and submit approvals to Corp DRF team for processing on time
- Track skim/fat component mix at milk plants regularly and keep pulse on late-stage Self-Man sales negotiations to have time to solve any raw supply complications
- Complete risk assessments of component mix imbalances at plants incorporating planned FG volume, market forecasts, and budget data to make optimal cream sales and purchase agreements
- Support Self-Man departments in identifying variances between standard costs and actual costs
- Monitor component and quality measures in raw milk to react quickly with farmers
- Comply with all sustainability initiatives and ensure that new standards are properly planned for and implemented

** The salary range is $105,900 to $137,580 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates. **
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in economics, supply chain, engineering, or business with relevant emphasis)
- Knowledge of commodity markets and supply chain, or dairy as it relates to either or both
- 5+ years of supply chain, category management, sourcing, or equivalent
- Pairs empathy with a drive to generate value to effectively negotiate
- Must have experience influencing and positively motivating cross functional teams to collaborate on complex initiatives
- Must have a growth mindset, exceptional curiosity, and intellectual stamina to manage new challenges regularly
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
- Strong communication skillset, both orally and in writing
- Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced – at times entrepreneurial – environment
