Communications & Digital Content Specialist

Looking to fill this role as soon as possible.
We are seeking a talented and creative Communications & Digital Content Specialist to join our team at Olympic College. In this temporary part-time role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing content for a variety of publications, website, social media, digital advertising, and marketing materials. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator with a passion for storytelling, excellent writing abilities, and a strong understanding of digital marketing platforms.
Essential Functions
- Write content for use on the college’s website, in social media, email, and digital and print advertising.
- Conduct interviews with appropriate stakeholders as needed for content production.
- Publish content on the college website, ensuring it is up-to-date, informative, and visually appealing.
- Generate, curate, and schedule compelling social media posts using platforms like Hootsuite, ensuring consistency in tone, voice, and branding.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to inquiries and comments promptly, and engage with our online community.
- Maintain brand consistency across all communication channels and ensure compliance with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Assist in other marketing and communication activities as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field, or
- Experience producing professional content for distribution across multiple channels.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in using social media management tools like Hootsuite or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with SEO principles and content optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tactics, including social media marketing and digital display advertising.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS knowledge.
- Basic graphic design and layout experience.
- Basic photography and video production knowledge.

Terms of Employment
Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Part time hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement.
This is a temporary part time hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $28.00. Part time hourly employees are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
