COMMUNICATIONS SPEC

Position Summary:

The National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD) is seeking a Communications Specialist to contribute to the design and development of social media content, marketing assets and program materials. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing visual and written content that effectively communicates NCHPAD’s various brands and provide support in crafting engaging and informative messages to be used in digital and print marketing efforts.

To assist in executing communications strategies and programs to influence employee engagement, increase employee knowledge and share key departmental/division messages. To develop a variety of employee communications that support all units of the department or division. To draft, edit and deliver employee messaging through available media, including print matter, advertisements, e-publications, web sites, intranet content, social media, database-driven web content, change management communications, presentations, other employee messaging and materials and ongoing internal communications. To make best use of available technologies and ensure integrated internal presentation of UAB brand. To gather and analyze data on communications effectiveness and recommend improvements to extend reach and readership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the communications team to develop visually appealing and accessible materials for social media campaigns, exhibitions, sub-brands, partnerships, LMS, programs, reports, presentations and organizational collateral.
  • Work with the communications team in creating engaging and inclusive social media and newsletter content, including writing social media posts and developing supporting graphics.
  • Collaborate with team members to determine communication needs and goals for various projects.
  • Assist in maintaining the organization’s brand guidelines, ensuring consistency across all visual content.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of communication and creative plans for NCHPAD’s various programs and initiatives.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, tools and techniques to ensure effective and engaging communication strategies that are accessible and inclusive to people with disabilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Range: $47,665 – $61,800

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field and one (1) year of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Minimum hiring rate must meet the most current FLSA guidelines for salary level and basis to remain exempt.
