The Opportunity

Are you a storyteller? communicator? social media whiz? Join the PMI Evolve team and fight one of the world’s most deadly infectious diseases. Abt Associates manages the United States President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) Evolving Vector Control to Fight Malaria Project, which supports PMI and USAID in the planning, implementing, and monitoring of malaria vector control programs in 21 countries. As a Communications Specialist, you will support the creation and dissemination of content through a new website, e-newsletters, social media, and webinars.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide concise and compelling written content for success stories, newsletters, and social media platforms to support project’s key messages and overall programmatic objectives.
  • Coordinate the development and distribution of communications to employees, clients, and members of the global health community through e-newsletters, e-alerts, and webinars.
  • Post content to the project website (currently under development) and support transition of content from the PMI VectorLink website (prior project) to the new site.
  • Provide copyediting and formatting support for communications documents, ensuring adherence to PMI branding and marking guidance.
  • Track web and social media metrics.
  • Maintain and manage external distribution lists to ensure the project is reaching appropriate audiences.
  • Maintain and manage the project photo library.
  • Work with Abt Associates’ Marketing & Communications team to identify opportunities to cross-share PMI Evolve stories that advance the company’s digital communications goals.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating conference activities as needed.

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, communications, English or relevant field.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Previous experience with social media platforms and content management tools.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in basics of graphic design, with experience with Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, or similar web-based design tools.
  • Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in French a bonus.

This position offers an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $49,233 to $68,926 and may vary by ten percent depending on candidate geographic location. Salary offers are made based on internal equity and market analysis.
