COMMUNITY COORDINATOR

The Traffic Operations’ Signals Timing and Intersection Control Unit (STIC) seeks to hire a Community Coordinator who will be responsible for the preparation of evaluation reports, performing analyses, and reviewing program plans for Vision Zero and Street Improvement (SIP) projects. The successful candidate will plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and/or evaluate programs/projects that provide important community services. The candidate will be involved in planning, tracking, and coordination of Retiming projects, Street Improvement projects (SIP), LPI installations, SBS/TSP projects, Left Turn and LPI studies, and other Vision Zero projects. Maintain database records for the Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS)program. The candidate will work closely with project managers from other divisions and make recommendations on signal timing policies and procedures. The candidate will be responsible for preparing correspondence letters, closing, and archiving studies completed by the unit. The candidate will track project tasks, goals, and results, and answer phones from both within DOT and outside entities (elected offices, community boards, the general public, etc.). Process incoming communications and distribute them to the appropriate staff and maintain asset tracking databases.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1” or “2” above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.

Preferred Skills
• Candidate should be detailed-orientated, accurate, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Candidate must be proficient in database usage.
• Must have strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to communicate effectively with others and collaborate in a team environment.

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.
