General Description
The Community Engagement Associate will support the Bureau of Human Services by building and maintaining relationships with neighborhood advocates, and using these relationships to further promote and support the units housed within the Bureau of Human Services.
This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.
A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. (See “

CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
Typical Work Activities
- Assist with all Workforce Development efforts ie; Employment Fairs, Meeting of the Minds Luncheons etc.
- Monitor Workforce Development Training Room activities.
- Organize, and execute community engagement strategies, projects, and special events.
- Coordinate regular meetings to develop partnerships and build rapport internally and externally.
- Create methods to survey and collect community feedback on processes, events and community needs.
- Lead distribution efforts of promotional materials and supplies to the community as needed.
- Lead community outreach in times of neighborhood crisis or emergencies.
- Build a department Community Volunteer base.
- Uses GIS, Excel and Microsoft Teams to build and maintain a shared database of neighborhood resources and community partners.
- Uses the aforementioned databases to promote units in the department efforts as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or Equivalent; PLUS
Two (2) years of experience providing program assistance in a human services, educational, recreation, or similar setting.
Knowledge of Spanish language and familiarity with the Hispanic community in Rochester a plus.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Class D Driver’s License at time of appointment. This licensure must be maintained throughout employment in this job.
